Three Predictions for the 2025 Edition of the Biggest Party of the Summer
Tomorrow night, the WWE will host the Biggest Party of the Summer, SummerSlam. For the first time, this will be a two-night event. SummerSlam is the WWE’s second biggest Premium Live Event of the year, and fans expect to see top matches and many surprises throughout the show. With six matches on each night, featuring a rematch from WrestleMania between John Cena and Cody Rhodes, to one of the largest Tables, Ladders, and Chairs matches in history, the 2025 edition of SummerSlam could be one for the history books. So, what could happen on the card that could shock fans and leave them with so much excitement about what happens next? In this article, I provide three predictions that could happen when WWE touches down at MetLife Stadium.
Breakker and Reed Beat Reigns and Uso Clean
The OTC is back, and he is teaming with his cousin against two individuals with whom they both have had their fair share of problems. Bron Breakker and “Big” Bronson Reed have been on a tear since aligning themselves with Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman. However, since Rollins suffered an injury on the 40th edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, Breakker and Reed have had to carry the momentum that the group has built over the last three months. The Unpredictable Badass, in particular, has taken it upon himself to be the de facto leader until Rollins returns. At the Biggest Party of the Summer, they will take on Roman Reigns and Jey Uso in a tag team match on Night One of the event. The Tribal Chief and his former “Right Hand Man” look to have the upper hand on their SummerSlam opponents on the July 28th episode of Raw before Breakker and Reed shocked them and took them out to close the episode of Raw. At Summerslam, I wouldn’t put it past the heels to win dirty, but what if they take the victory clean? A clean victory for the former Intercontinental and North American Champions would boost their stock in the company and give both of them huge wins in their early careers. Breakker is already being presented as a future top star in the company, getting a win over one of the faces of the company now, Reigns, would only further prove that the WWE is going to give Breakker a rocket to the top of the Sports Entertainment mountain.
The T.LC. Match Steals the Show
Six tag teams are fighting for championship gold that will be hanging above the ring, and they will have tables, ladders, and chairs to use at their disposal. Over the past few weeks, the SmackDown tag team division has had a problem with the Wyatt Sicks, yet none of them refuse to work together to take them out. This has made for the division to be easy pickings for the Wyatts, who have since captured the Tag Team titles. Each tag team in this match, the Street Profits, D.I.Y., MCMG, Fraxiom, Andrade and Rey Fenix, along with the Wyatts, will put their bodies on the line in a brutal match, but if executed correctly, could be one that fans will remember for a long time. Expect high-flying spots, earth-shattering moves that you have never seen before, and over eighty thousand people to be chanting “This Is Awesome” throughout this match. The T.L.C. match on the SmackDown after WrestleMania 41 has been described as a match of the year candidate, but this one at SummerSlam has the chance to eclipse that.
Cody Rhodes Turns Heel
This has been teased and rumored over the past several weeks on social media that the American Nightmare will turn heel. Cody Rhodes has been the top babyface on the roster since he made his WWE return at WrestleMania 38, but the WWE has a chance to pull off something that he has not done since his days on Impact Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling, and that is take a walk on the dark side. Rhodes himself has said that he would be open to doing that, but it would have to be right. Well, in a Street Fight against John Cena, it might be the perfect time. At WrestleMania 41, Rhodes let Cena get the best of him, and it cost him the WWE Championship. However, at SummerSlam, the American Nightmare will get an opportunity to dethrone Cena, this time in a match where anything goes. Can Rhodes beat Cena as a babyface? He can, but if the WWE wants to shock people and pull off a surprise no one sees coming, then it might be time for Rhodes to turn heel. This could be the time to turn Cena back into a babyface for the last few months of his career, while Rhodes can evolve and take on the company’s top babyfaces. In the WWE, characters need to evolve, and I think that Cody having a run as the top heel in the company would do wonders for him, but it would get fans talking about what the WWE has in store for them next.
