Titans WR Suffers Fractured Collarbone During Stadium Practice
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Treylon Burks left practice with a shoulder injury during training camp at Nissan Stadium on July 26th. The injury occurred during a live team session when Burks made a diving catch on a pass from quarterback Cam Ward. He was seen grabbing his shoulder after the play and was quickly evaluated by the training staff. The catch showcased the talent that has kept Burks on the roster, but the celebration was short-lived. Team sources and reporters later confirmed that Burks suffered a fractured collarbone. The six-foot-two, 225-pound receiver is coming off a torn ACL that forced him to miss most of the 2024 season. Burks has also dealt with various injuries in his career, limiting his availability in both 2022 and 2023. Despite these setbacks, the Titans expect him to be ready for the start of the 2025 regular season.
With a relatively inexperienced wide receiver group, Burks' absence during training camp presents a challenge. The Titans drafted two rookie receivers this year, Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor, and signed Xavier Restrepo as an undrafted free agent. Veterans Calvin Ridley and Tyler Lockett are expected to lead the room, but the younger receivers will now have more opportunities to make an impact during camp and preseason action. While the injury is a setback, it is not considered season-altering. Burks is expected to return in time for Week One, and the Titans plan to manage his recovery carefully to prevent any risk of re-injury.
Still, questions remain about his long-term role with the team. Burks has struggled to stay healthy since being selected with the 18th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, a pick acquired in the trade that sent A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles. As training camp continues, Tennessee will likely evaluate its receiving corps closely. The Titans are focused on creating the best possible environment for their starting quarterback, and that could mean giving younger players more reps, exploring trade options, or even signing additional veterans to provide depth and stability at the position.
