Two Trade Targets That Would Save the Cowboys Season

NFL

Starting the 2025 NFL Season with a 2-3-1 record doesn’t look great for the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys are going into the tougher part of their schedule, playing the Commanders, Eagles, Chiefs, and Lions in four of their next seven games. If they want a chance to make the playoffs, they are going to have to get aggressive before the trade deadline. Here are two players the Dallas Cowboys should target before the 4:00 p.m. EST, November 4th, cutoff for trades.

DE Trey Hendrickson - Cincinnati Bengals

Trey Hendrickson is on a one-year franchise tag deal worth $30 million plus incentives. Despite being inactive and the Cincinnati Bengals winning in a shootout last night, their future for this season doesn’t look bright, which is why it would make sense for Jerry Jones to call the Bengals' front office. In 2023 and 2024, Hendrickson had a career high of 17.5 sacks in both seasons. While he hasn’t been as good this year, he still has four sacks this season, which ranks in the top 20. The Cowboys' defense has looked poor this year, so adding an elite pass rusher would be a great upgrade for their front seven. With the Cowboys recently receiving two firsts, this guy would be the perfect player to use one of them on.

DB Tariq Woolen - Seattle Seahawks

The Dallas Cowboys' secondary has been one of the worst in the NFL. The PFF ranking positions them as the 31st best, and that is out of 32 teams, which is extremely poor. Adding Tariq Woolen would be a major upgrade. Even though he hasn’t had the best campaign, in 2024, he only allowed 134 receiving yards in 14 games played, which is impressive. I think with a new franchise and coaching staff, Woolen could thrive and get back to his old self. Additionally, the Cowboys could send a fourth or fifth-round pick, plus a player, and the Seahawks would do it in an instant.

As we’ve watched the Cowboys' defense struggle through these past six weeks of football, it’s time they upgrade their defense. They could add a stud pass rusher in Hendrickson or add a defensive back in Woolen. Either way, they have to do something, or else they will be considered in poverty. No matter what, Jerry Jones always has something up his sleeve.
