UFC 323: Who Is Going to Headline the Last PPV of the Year?

UFC

As you all may have seen, UFC 322 was announced some weeks ago, and the penultimate card of the year is shaping up to be an absolute stunner. With so many stars fighting at Madison Square Garden, the options have dwindled for who the final card of the year may be housing. There are a few fighters, I believe, who would excel at the end of the year. Warriors who the UFC has depended on to show up when no one else could or would. It seems only fair that the year would end with such an amazing group of fighters, and I’m here to break down who those combatants may be.

The two most important fights to break down are the main and co-main. The co-main will likely be a title fight as the UFC tends to end its final pay-per-views of the year with two title fights per card. Who better to get the crowd excited for the main event than Flyweight champion Alexandre Pantoja, taking on young, up-and-coming contender Joshua Van. Pantoja has quickly become one of the only flyweights to be able to compete with former champion Demetrious Johnson in terms of accolades and ability. Alexandre has cleared out a division of hungry killers, even fighting some of them more than once, in his pursuit of being the greatest flyweight of all time. On the flipside, Van has quickly made a name for himself as one of the greatest prospects the UFC has to offer. Constantly showing up on short notice to save fights, recovering from a loss, and going on to get a four-fight win streak, and even getting the honor of facing off with the champ in the octagon. The match seems all but made, so what better time to have it than the last PPV of the year?

Moving on, one man has made it clear that he wishes above all else to stay active and face the best his division has to offer. A company man by every stretch of the term. Former pound-for-pound number one, Alexander Volkanovski, seems to be the best pick to headline this fantastic card. Featherweight is a profound division. Young prospects and hardened veterans, it seems like anyone could be next in line for a title shot. With regards to everyone competing at 145, I see no better man to face this all-time great than Lerone Murphy. After his beautiful knockout of Aaron Pico at UFC 319, there seems to be no one more qualified to fight the champ than Murphy. Both men are high-level strikers at the top of their game, and this match-up seems tailor-made for staggering sales. The card should be announced in the weeks to come. What do you think is most likely to headline this year’s final PPV?
