UFC 329 Hosts ‘The Baddy’ and Benoît Saint Denis for a Men’s Lightweight Division Showdown

UFC

UFC 329 will go down as a widely spectated and streamed bout between current UFC fighters like Conor McGregor, who wants a return to the sport in the form of a grudge match. However, other matchups in the fight card include equally marketable fighters like Paddy Pimblett. Otherwise known as ‘The Baddy’, he has gained considerable notice in the combat sport and sits at sixth in the Men’s Lightweight Division. His opponent for this event is Benoît Saint-Denis. He sits in fifth at the Men’s Lightweight Division and has earned the nickname, ‘God of War’.

Pimblett is 31 years old and started his UFC journey in 2021. He is seasoned as a fighter, which has been followed by an almost meteoric rise. This bout could have him reach new heights, since his last title fight ended in a disappointing loss. Coming into it he is landing 5.49 strikes per minute. Notably, his record 23-4-0 shows a strong win streak, and his UFC record has improved his KO/TKO statistics. Ultimately, he’s still developing as a fighter like his opponent.

Saint-Denis, sitting at 30 years old, is no ordinary opponent for ‘The Baddy’. He also began his UFC career in 2021 and, while not as viral in the social media space, he is a force to contend with. After all, he is ranked higher and has seen his fair share of fighters like his 31-year-old opponent. He lands 5.62 strikes per minute, which makes him the faster fighter in this bout. He even averages 4.19 takedowns every 15 minutes of a fight. He can be considered a well-rounded fighter from these facts alone.

The facts or statistics even say that this fight will be won by ‘God of War’ through a decision. It’s not surprising, given that Pimblett seems to be the slower-hitting fighter between the two. The tide could turn the other way if the 31-year-old fighter does, in fact, keep with his record of absorbing 3.89 strikes per minute, which sits less than his opponent’s 4.09 strikes per minute. By doing so, he could go on to win the fight and maybe even secure a spot in the top five in the Men’s Lightweight Division!

Tides are fickle sometimes and cannot predict every time a God approaches the shore. The ‘God of War’ approaching this time will certainly be the cause for ‘The Baddy’ to lose the fight. It is possible to have the situation reversed, but in all other statistics, he’s trending the outcome in his favor. To see what outcome is had at this battle for and maintenance of a top-five position within the Men’s Lightweight Division, fans can stream it live on Paramount+ at 9:00 p.m. ET.
