Veteran Quarterback Takes Last Chapter of His Career to Pittsburgh

NFL

After stringing along many NFL teams, the wait is finally over. Aaron Rodgers has informed the Steelers that he will fly to Pittsburgh on Friday, sign a one-year contract, and attend minicamp with the team. With Rodgers a Steeler, this will now answer many questions being asked about the team and their upcoming plans for the season regarding the quarterback position and the offensive scheme. With rookie sixth-round pick Will Howard showing subtle signs of promise heading into minicamp, questions started to circulate around whether or not the Steelers would end up signing the Super Bowl-winning quarterback. However, those questions can now be put to rest.

Aaron Rodgers has made it no secret that he enjoys the attention and the spotlight whenever it’s on him. However, in the last few weeks, his wavering mindset was stirring the pot in relation to his chances of being a Steeler. In the end, the team knew that he was the missing piece, and now they’ve got him. He has proved he can be one of the top quarterbacks in the league, with the right weapons and staff. The concern that arises is his injury status, as he has not yet transitioned to his old self, who has the potential to play at an MVP caliber. On the other hand, the Steelers would not have signed him if he weren’t ready to play. It seems as if Rodgers is healthy and excited to kick off the 2025 season as a Pittsburgh Steeler.

Rodgers’ last impressive season came up in 2021, when he threw for 4,115 yards, 37 touchdowns, and only four interceptions, locking down his fourth MVP award. With the new addition of D.K. Metcalf and many impactful rookies, Rodgers is hoping for a big bounce back season to take the Steelers back to the place they know better than most teams, the Super Bowl, as they stand at the top of the all time franchise list with six super bowls. It will be interesting to see how the Steelers move forward with Howard, as Rodgers could be a great mentor, if the Steelers plan to keep him for the team’s future. Although he is nearing the end of his career, Aaron Rodgers is looking to make an immediate impact on this Steelers team and bring them back to glory.
