What Are the Bears Injuries Heading into Monday Night Football?

NFL

The Chicago Bears take on the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football tomorrow night. The Bears return to action after having their bye week, and get a shot for revenge against a Commanders team that would defeat them last season with a Hail Mary throw that would send their year into turmoil. Quarterback Caleb Williams and his offense have been off to a hot start for Chicago, and are hoping it can continue to put them at 3-2 on the season. However, they won’t be without an injury issue despite getting a week's rest, where it seemed more players entered an injury designation.

Bears starting defensive tackle Grady Jarrett will be out for this game against the Commanders, a big blow to their defense, which has already struggled getting to the quarterback. Jarrett has been out since September 21st, and coming off the bye week, Bears fans were hopeful he’d be able to return at a position that sorely needs his help. Going up against quarterback Jayden Daniels, who is one of the most elusive players in the NFL, will serve as an even bigger challenge now with Jarrett out. Chicago will have to rely on defenders like defensive end Montez Sweat to keep Daniels in the pocket.

While Jarrett will be the only Chicago Bear ruled out, four players are listed as questionable. Kicker Cairo Santos, tight end Colston Loveland, defensive end Austin Booker, and running back Travis Homer all carry designations going into Monday. Luckily for Chicago, it’s expected that at least Loveland and Santos will be good to go, but there could be players to keep an eye on as the game progresses. Chicago’s rookie tight end and 10th overall draft pick this year has yet to make much of an impact, and will look to do so against the Commanders, shaking off his injury. Chicago may be dealing with some injuries, but their opponent will be too, especially at the wide receiver position. Both teams are looking to make a statement in this primetime game and move forward despite the injury bug going around the NFL.
