What Can We Expect from Booker T Appreciation Night on NXT in Houston?
During the March 10th episode of NXT, commentator Vic Joseph announced to his fellow colleague, former six-time World Champion Booker T, that next week on March 17th, NXT is heading to Houston, where it will be 'Booker T Appreciation Night’. Booker looked surprised by the announcement and dapped up Joseph with excitement, looking forward to next week with three championships on the line. The six-time World Champion may not be everyone’s favorite cup of tea when it comes to their favorite WWE commentator, but for those who enjoy Booker at the table, it’s constant smiles and laughs. While next week’s show was going to be intriguing on its own, having 'Booker T Appreciation Night’ may make this a night to remember. Here’s what to possibly expect on the March 17th episode of NXT.
Looking Back At Booker’s Career
There’s a good chance we could see highlights and clips of the six-time World Champion’s legendary career. Booker wrestled for 20+ years and played an intricate role in WCW, WWE, and TNA. With WCW, Booker won five World Championships, six WCW World Television Championships, and 11 WCW World Tag Team Championships. In WWE, he won the Intercontinental Championship, was a three-time United States Champion, and won one more World Heavyweight Championship when he was memorably known as ‘King Booker’. While he was only in TNA for three years, he became the inaugural TNA Legends Champion and a TNA World Tag Team Champion. When it came to tagging with his brother Stevie Ray as Harlem Heat, or being alongside ‘Queen’ Sharmell, Booker has had an amazing career. His classic entrance and his famous Spinaroonie have always made him an iconic wrestling icon. Personally, one of my favorite matches of all time is Booker against ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin in the supermarket. That memorable fight, going from aisle to aisle, with food all over, has been a moment that will go down in history. Appreciating his career is something to surely come on 'Booker T Appreciation Night’.
Watching Booker’s Best Commentary Moments
Since becoming a commentator in NXT, Booker T has had so many great moments, some of which have even gone mainstream. When Stephanie Vaquer was in NXT, the six-time World Champion would scream “Ah” every time Vaquer hit the Devil’s Kiss. That one word has become so viral that once Vaquer hit the main roster, everyone from the WWE Universe knew what to do. One time, Joseph remarked, “Booker’s going to need a cigarette after this one”, because of Booker being so amped up from the move. There have been multiple viral clips online of Booker reacting to Vaquer’s Devil Kiss while he’s commentating. When Oba Femi was in NXT, the six-time World Champion always commented, “No bread, no water, just meat” because of the size and strength of Femi. In NXT, Trick Williams’ music would hit, and Booker would always ad-lib alongside the fans, which also became popular. Another moment happened in 2024, when rapper Sexyy Redd was performing, and you could see Booker enjoying himself, vibing with the song. More recently, the six-time World Champion’s reaction to NXT’s newest threat, Keanu Carver, has been something to watch; the looks Booker makes when Carver is around are something to see. These are just a few legendary moments that NXT needs to replay next week at 'Booker T Appreciation Night’.
An Incident with Keanu Carver
Speaking of Carver, the past two weeks on NXT, Carver has made threats to Booker to “watch out for his boy”. His so-called “boy” is LFG season one winner and former Speed Champion, Jasper Troy. During a triple-threat, against Sean Legacy and Eli Knight, Troy was thrown through the announce table by Carver. Booker could be the reason Carver and Troy feud, most likely setting up a match for Stand & Deliver. Carver could possibly threaten or hurt the six-time World Champion in order to get the former Speed Champion’s attention.
Awarding Booker from His Wrestling to His Commentary
Booker may not be everyone’s favorite announcer, yet, for those who enjoy his commentary, the six-time World Champion provides moments that are everlasting to some WWE fans. His love for wrestling and at the table is shown every single week. Joseph remarked on the March 10th episode that he and Booker were only supposed to be a commentary team for three months, and now it’s been over three years. Their chemistry together is shown in their back-and-forth remarks and their love-hate relationship. 'Booker T Appreciation Night’ on the March 17th episode of NXT should be an epic night that showcases the greatness of a Hall of Fame wrestler and commentator, while also progressing storylines for April 4th Stand & Deliver.
