What Happened to Charles Leclerc in Hungary?
In today's Hungarian Grand Prix, Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc explained the race was frustrating, as he started in pole position only to slip into fourth place. In a time when victory was almost in his grasp, it quickly faded as he lost pace. The Grand Prix began well for Leclerc, as he led the race and managed to keep the current leader of the Driver’s Championship, and McLaren driver, Oscar Piastri, behind him for the first round of pit stops. Unfortunately for Leclerc, Lando Norris, the other driver for McLaren, pushed ahead of both drivers in an alternative strategy. This caused the Ferrari driver to struggle severely in the later events of the race. He was quickly overtaken by Piastri, losing second place to him.
George Russell battled Leclerc for third, and eventually won the position, flying past him in his Mercedes. In addition, he was given a five-second penalty for erratic driving during the small battle for the placement. Eventually, when the race came to an end, Leclerc expressed that the lack of pace occurred around Lap 40 and that he would have to have a conversation with his team about the issue. Due to the Hungarian Grand Prix being close to the end of the season, the “Prince of Monaco” will definitely have to work with the Ferrari team and bring his car up to pace. Once a race is over, it’s over, and as of today, Ferrari has lacked in bringing results for their number one driver.
Now, with only 11 more races to complete until the season is over, Ferrari will have to put some serious analysis into their car to figure out the reason why they are not improving every week. As of now, there is no real truth to why the car is not up to par, but what Leclerc thinks is that it is something out of his control. A huge congratulations to Norris for his first-place win in the Hungarina Grand Prix, and a great thanks to him for moving his trophy out of the way before the champagne spray so another break didn’t occur. Make sure to watch the upcoming Dutch Grand Prix weekend beginning August 29th!
