What Is Next for This Racing Team After a Rough Showing in Canada?
After a tough time at the Canadian Grand Prix for Williams, what is next? With one point scraped from Sunday’s race, it moves the team up to 55 points total for the 2025 season so far. Alex Albon’s frustrating retirement from the race was due to a Power Unit issue. He was forced wide on the opening lap, which had him bouncing across the grassy part of the track, causing him to lose places. Once the team attempted to make a one-stop work, Albon had a hard time managing his tires. He then missed his pit stop, ultimately realizing he had to retire the car. According to the driver, the race had practically been over due to the struggle on the first lap.
Here’s hoping things at the Austrian Grand Prix will look up for Albon. Luckily, his newest teammate, former Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz, placed P10 and scored one point in the race. He did, however, admit that he could not compete properly due to managing issues that arose during the race. The team seemed to be disconnected in their communication, and such miscommunication can lead to great loss. Hopefully, the team will regroup and come together to further their points and positions for the next Grand Prix on June 29th.
Williams was not the only team that had a rough ride in Canada. Lando Norris ended up finding his way into the wall in a battle with his teammate, Oscar Piastri. This led to Norris being unable to finish the race, and also admitting his fault in the situation, later apologizing to his teammate. Although Williams did not have their ideal outcome, team principal James Vowles commented that Saniz's pace in this messy race was great, especially under the unwelcome circumstances. Though Saniz is no longer a driver at Ferrari, it leaves viewers wondering whether Williams will be another team he will help build up. In light of these past few races, the team has done significantly better than it had in the past. Is it truly because of the driver, or is it luck? Make sure to stay tuned to the races to determine if there will be an answer.
