What Lies Ahead For The ‘MVP’ of the UFC

UFC

Ahead of his UFC London fight this upcoming Saturday against Sam Patterson, Michael ‘Venom’ Page has assured the press that he is coming for the Welterweight title. Currently ranked at #13 in the Welterweight Division rankings, ‘MVP’ still has a ways to go before he can earn a true title shot. Not to mention, many of the fighters ahead of him in the division, like Carlos Prates and Michael Morales, have already proven more so far, giving them more of a chance at a title fight in the near future. However, if ‘MVP’ can put on a highlight performance or even get a crazy KO this Saturday, his chances of fighting for gold may skyrocket.

Page made his UFC debut back in March 2024 at UFC 299 after fighting with Bellator for about ten years. He earned a unanimous decision win against Kevin Holland, which would place him in the running for more high-profile fights in the Welterweight Division. Since then, Page’s tenure in the UFC has been slightly underwhelming, contrasting with his exciting Bellator fight career, which would present him as a wild, unorthodox fighter who can knock out anyone at any moment. Page's record in the UFC so far is 3-1 compared to his overall 24-3 MMA record, with each of his UFC wins being by unanimous decision. So will fans finally see a KO from ‘MVP’ this weekend?

Well, that is the hope, and a KO could be likely in this matchup for Page, whether it is him giving it out or the other way around. Patterson has been a dangerous fighter so far in the UFC, as all of his wins have come by finish. Putting Page’s unorthodox style up against Patterson’s high-finish rate could make for a great fight, as each fighter has something big to prove to the company and the fans. If ‘Venom’ were to come out on top at UFC London this weekend, that could push him further into the gauntlet of the Welterweight Division. Islam Makhachev currently stands strong as the champion of the division, and there are no plans for him to change weight classes again anytime soon. Whether Makhachev is champion or not in the future, ‘MVP’ has made it clear he does not care who he has to fight for a potential title shot someday.

I’ve always been in love with all sports. I played baseball for about 15 years, along with some occasional basketball and football for fun. Starting back in 2020, I’ve become obsessed with UFC and MMA. Since then, I’ve developed a fondness for many fighters and try to watch all the big events each month.
