What the 2025 BMW Championship’s Results Mean for the Ryder’s Cup
Round Two of the 2025 BMW Championship has been exciting. With the event halfway through, players are already looking towards the next, and it will be interesting to see how these scores affect players' odds at the next championship event. Though it may be a few weeks away, the Ryder Cup may as well be around the corner. The Ryder Cup takes place at the Black Course at Bethpage State Park. On the US team, 24 players have confirmed they have a spot. Europe’s Team Captain, Luke Donald, is expected to name his six wildcards at the beginning of September. Players hope to increase their point averages and ranks before the big day. Players like Rory Mclloy have their eye on the big picture.
Though he was not victorious, McIlroy played a solid game this weekend. He scored two double bogies and two bogies. McIlroy’s score reflects his successful season, with three championship wins this year alone. It is no surprise that the 36-year-old was also announced to have qualified for the Ryder Cup. He is expected to bring heavy competition to the table at the upcoming event.
As expected, Scottie Scheffler has walked away with yet another win. With this win, Scheffler, along with Tiger Woods, becomes one of the only players to win five consecutive tournaments in consecutive campaigns. The Irish player has had an extraordinary season, adding five championship tour wins to his belt just this year. With his impeccable streak, Scheffler has all eyes on him, but he was not the only one.
Also watching from the sidelines, 45-year-old Justin Rose’s son watches on as he ties 30th in this weekend’s championship. Rose’s game has improved significantly compared to last year. Just last week, he earned his first championship at the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship, and he is playing in the 2027 Ryder Cup as a player as well as a captain. At this year’s Ryder Cup, he is set to replace Luke Donald, captain of Europe’s Ryder Cup Team.
Players like Scheffler, McIlroy, and Rose have heavy expectations placed on their shoulders. In the last few days of the BMW Championships, players need to rein in their focus and get ready to play for their lives. The Ryder Cup is quickly approaching. Yet, the Round Three of the BMW Championship takes place Sept. 26-28th.
