What to Expect of Bronny James in Year Two
After having an impressive showing during the NBA Summer League in July, the son of one of the greatest basketball players ever, Bronny James, is looking at his second year in the league coming up. What can we expect from the young prodigy? Especially after a struggling first year where there was so much pressure placed upon him, the weight will be off his shoulders this time around because now people know more or less what to expect from James. James played 27 games last season for the Lakers and started in one game.
Things change completely when we talk about his NBA G-League or Summer League performances. For example, in his Summer League performance, he averaged almost 15 points per game. It also seemed like he was playing with more aggression and comfort than he was during the regular season. Despite his recent success, expect Bronny to have a season similar to last year. Playing more with the South Bay Lakers in the G-League than on the main roster. The Lakers are trying to play to compete for another chance to win a title before Lebron James’ eventual retirement. Which should be coming in the next year or two. One thing to look out for in Bronny's second season will be his conditioning. As humans age, they get bulkier. Bronny should build on that and improve his cardio as he gets used to the NBA schedule. Bronny's playmaking is very underrated. He has good court awareness and seems to always make the right pass, whether it's a flashy one or not. I think that will be more showcased as well during the season.
Overall, I think he will be filled with more limited playing minutes as he continues to increase his role with the Lakers under his father's tutelage. The Lakers can use his youth speed and increased role playing heading deeper into the season. Not to mention, this might be the last season Lebron plays with his son, so rather than look down on it fans should enjoy it. While not a regular rotation player, he will look to prove himself more so this season than last season.
