What’s Next for the 2025 Canucks Development Camp Invitees?
The 2025 Vancouver Canucks development camp hosted a total of 33 players, 16 of which were invited to the camp, the rest being Canucks prospects already. With 16 invited players who have not been drafted, the Canucks had some of the highest numbers of invited players on their rosters. Clearly, these players impressed someone somehow to be invited to spend part of the summer training with the franchise. However, what comes next for these players who aren’t drafted? Here’s a short summary of what’s in store for the camp invitees.
Forwards
There were six forwards invited to the Canucks’ development camp. Mirko Buttazzoni is 20-years-old and spent his last season playing for UMass Lowell at the NCAA level. Buttazzoni will be spending this upcoming season sharpening his skills on the ice and continuing his education at UMass Lowell. 22-year-old Swiss forward Ray Fust played with Clarkson University last season with four points in 19 games. Fust is going to be transferring his talent to Sacred Heart University in the 2025-2026 season. Amine Hajibi will be heading to Massachusetts to play for Northeastern this season after playing in the USHL previously. Hobey Baker nominee Colin Kessler will be returning to Vermont for his second season at the University of Vermont. At 18-years-old, Zachary Morin will return to play in the QMJHL to prepare for Boston University in the 2026-2027 season. And finally, Ben Muthersbaugh will return to Union College to play college hockey.
Defensemen
Seven defensemen were invited to Vancouver for development camp. Carsen Adair is an 18-year-old who will likely continue playing for the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the WHL this upcoming season. Matthew Grimes is committed to the University of Minnesota for the 2026-2027 season. Stefan Milosevec will be continuing to play for the Swedish Hockey League next season. 22-year-old Mack Oliphant will be returning to the College of Holy Cross as an assistant captain. Nova Scotia native Duncan Ramsay will be back in Catamount Country for the University of Vermont in 2025-2026. Zach Sandhu previously helped the Ohshawa Generals to the OHL finals and will likely return next season. Last up, Xander Velliaris will most likely be continuing his journey in the OHL.
Goaltenders
Three goaltenders had the opportunity to join the roster at development camp this year. 18-year-old goalie Matthew Hutchison will likely return to play in the WHL next season. Alexander Levshyn previously played for the Toronto Patriots in the OJHL and will probably return. Finally, Roddy Ross previously played for the University of Saskatchewan and with the Witchita Thunder. You will probably see him return to the Thunder sometime.
