Where Does the Cowboys Wide Receiver Combo Rank Among the League's Best?

NFL

With the recent acquisition of Steelers star receiver George Pickens by the Cowboys, the Dallas offense has the potential to return to the heights they reached from 2021 to 2023. With a revamped offensive line, a new run game, and a healthy Dak Prescott entering his tenth season, Dallas fans have hope for next season. What will bring fans the most joy is finally being able to have another star player next to CeeDee Lamb, like the Cowboys once had with Amari Cooper. Pickens and Lamb certainly are among the best receiving duos without playing a game, but where do they rank?

1. Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins

Without a doubt, Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are the best receiving duo in the league. Chase is already one of the best, if not the best, receivers in the league, and what he brings to the football field speaks for itself. Higgins has the talent to be a number one receiver on several teams and could have decided to choose that route this free agency. In their time together, Chase and Higgins are the most feared duo not only in the AFC but also in the NFL.

2. A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith

The two Eagles have made their name known for their ability to make big plays and important plays when it matters. They are the only duo on the list to have won a Super Bowl together, and for good reason. A.J. Brown is a consensus top-five receiver, and DeVonta Smith is skillful enough to be a number one-type receiver for multiple teams in the league himself. These two help take the load off Jalen Hurts, and with an elite run game, they exploit one-on-one matchups like no other duo in the league.

3. CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens

Now the two have not even entered OTAs together, but what they’ll bring to the Dallas offense will make the Cowboys' season. Lamb, already being a top-three receiver in the game, finally gets another partner alongside him in Pickens. Their styles of play will complement each other extremely well, as doubling Lamb will not seem to be an option anymore with Pickens' deep threat ability. Pickens' play will also skyrocket as he will play with the best quarterback he’s ever had in Prescott and be the number two option against favorable matchups.

4/5. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle/Puka Nacua and Davante Adams

To round out the top five, it’s hard to figure out which duo is better, but they are both undoubtedly there. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle had a slow season last year, but injuries and poor quarterback play plagued them both; however, they are easily the fastest duo in the league with elite downfield play. Puka Nacua and Davante Adams are the new Los Angeles duo, both elite at finding ways to get open. It will also help that Sean McVay is calling plays; he’ll easily be able to scheme these two and make them a top duo in the NFL.
