Who Are the Top TNA Challengers for Trick Williams?
Since winning the TNA Championship at Battleground, Trick Williams has become even more brash, cocky, and arrogant than ever. Trick Willy’s win shifted the landscape of both the WWE and TNA, as he became the fifth wrestler to hold both the TNA and NXT Championships. Now, after a victory over Mike Santana on the June 3rd episode of NXT and an upcoming championship matchup against Elijah at TNA: Against All Odds, Trick Williams looks to hold on to the TNA Championship for a long time. However, there are a plethora of TNA wrestlers ready to challenge the new champion and are looking to reclaim the championship from someone they consider an outsider.
Moose
The current TNA X-Division Champion has had a run in NXT in March. At that time, he faced Oba Femi for the NXT Championship. Even though he failed in that pursuit, he was impressive and showcased his skills in front of a larger audience. If you have been following Moose’s career, then you know that he is a TNA lifer; he has a problem with the current TNA Champion trashing his brand. Moose will be a formidable challenger for Williams, and for the Leader of the Whoop That Era, he may have to rely on First Class to help him dispatch Moose to retain his championship, just like he did on the June 3rd episode of NXT.
Nic Nemeth
One-half of the current TNA Tag Team Champions is on the list of wrestlers who have won both the TNA and NXT Championships. Nic Nemeth, formerly known as Dolph Ziggler, could return to WWE screens, and what a pop that would be from the WWE Universe. Nemeth could bring back their shared history as WWE superstars, and Williams could call back to Nemeth getting fired from the WWE. The story here just writes itself, and a match between these two would be a battle of strengths as Williams uses his athleticism, while Nemeth is more technical and can use his amateur wrestling background to slow down Williams. Both stars would have backup as well, with Williams having First Class in his corner and Nemeth having his brother in his.
Frankie Kazarian
The self-proclaimed King of TNA, Frankie Kazarian, will likely have an issue with Williams holding his brand’s championship. Kazarian is an old-school, savvy veteran who teamed up with the TNA Champion at TNA: Under Siege. So, he has some history with him, but this all boils down to hating the fact that an outsider is holding the TNA Championship. Kazarian could claim that Williams lacks respect, and he is going to beat it into him. This could be a fun matchup between the old and new generations, with both men showcasing their skills and putting on a show for the fans.
Joe Hendry
“Say his name and he appears. I believe in Joe Hendry.” A catchy song made by the biggest star on the TNA Brand right now. However, he is no longer the TNA Champion, and nobody blames him more than himself. If anybody were to claim that they have to save TNA from Williams, it would have to be Joe Hendry. Hendry’s journey to reclaim the TNA Championship is just getting started, and it is only right that he is the one to dethrone Williams and reclaim the championship for TNA. Hendry’s story is not finished with Williams, it is only paused for now. However, the ultimate wrap-up to this story is Joe Hendry’s redemption arc and the Scotland native becoming a two-time TNA Champion. As for Williams, after a run as TNA Champion, a main roster call-up could be on the horizon.
