Who Were the Most Efficient NFL Offenses in 2025?

NFL

The NFL is as exciting as ever, maybe even more so this year, considering all the chaos. The league has been as pass-happy as ever, with a few standout teams that can keep the running game going. The running back experiment has, for the most part, failed, as it turns out, premier running backs are what is needed to put your offense over the top. Let’s look at some of the most potent offenses in the league and compare them to what the offense looked like in the middle of the season.

The Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams were rated adequately coming into the season. They had all the tools to succeed, yet even with all their potential, they still turned the football world on its head. Statistically, the Rams are the NFL's most potent offense. They lead the league in every major offensive statistic. Just to name a few, they lead the league in points per game with 30.5 ppg, yards per game with 396.4 ypg, and total touchdowns with 63, just to name a few of the most attractive stats. To make their impressive offensive season even more impressive, they had one of the strongest schedules in the league. Just in their division alone were two playoff teams in the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks, who went on to win the Super Bowl this year.

Veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford leads the offense. The 38-year-old has had a storied career before being traded to the Rams in 2021, where he went on to win a Super Bowl in his first season. Despite age and chronic back problems, Stafford has yet to slow down. 2025 was one of his best seasons to date, finishing with 388 completions, 4,707 passing yards, 48 touchdowns, just eight interceptions, and his first MVP Award to cap off his season, quite a feat for a 38-year-old quarterback drafted in 2009.

A quarterback is nothing without his weapons. The Rams found a diamond in the rough with receiver Puka Nacua, whom they drafted in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. He’s been a sensation since his rookie year, and he was paired up with a storied veteran in Davante Adams. Together, they created a nasty receiving duo, with Nacua ending his year with 1,715 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. Adams also got his despite missing the last stretch of games due to injury, leading the league with 14 receiving touchdowns. Finally, to cap off one of the best receiving duos in the league was the running back duo of Kyren Williams and Blake Corum. Williams finished 2025 with his third straight 1,000-yard rushing season, on 4.8 yards per carry, and 10 rushing touchdowns. Corum has served as the backup, getting more reps this year as a change-of-pace back. He had his best season as a pro with 746 rushing yards on 5.1 yards per carry and six rushing touchdowns. Both running backs had efficient seasons and complement the league’s best offense perfectly.

The Buffalo Bills

The Bills are a weird one. They lack any real alpha receiver; instead, they choose a receiver by committee, which may have been their downfall this year. Still, they had impressive offensive stats. They are second in total touchdowns with 59 and ranked fourth in yards per game with 376.3. Superstar quarterback Josh Allen leads the team. First, let’s look at the league’s rushing leader, James Cook. This is Cook’s third straight 1,000-yard rushing season, but this season was his true breakout season. He has cemented himself as one of the best running backs in the league. Along with the rushing title, he finished 2025 with 1,621 rushing yards on 5.1 yards per carry and 12 rushing touchdowns. Cook benefits from a fantastic offensive line and a quarterback who can take off at any moment, which, paired with Cook, makes them a threat at any moment.

On to the heart of the offense. Allen is one of the most dangerous quarterbacks in the league, capable of scoring on the ground or through the air. Allen is singlehandedly the Bills' offense. Without Allen, the offense looks far worse, which is something you can say about every team in the league. Mostly. Allen’s passing was down this year, but that is to be expected between an All-Pro running back and the general lack of receiving talent. Still, he finished with some impressive stats, finishing with 319 completions, 3,668 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. For Allen, you have to factor in his rushing stats, finishing with 579 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns. The Bills are a scary offense when Allen is on, and with a head coaching change, they are in line to be another offensive powerhouse.

The Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys' offense is firing on all cylinders with the additions of George Pickens and Javonte Williams. They finished second in yards per game with 391.3. Despite their 7-9 record, they were a threat every week. With some good retooling, they are in line to compete next year. Dak Prescott remains overrated, and he played one of his best seasons to date.

Pickens, paired with superstar CeeDee Lamb, makes for one of the, if not the best, receiving duos in the league. They complement each other’s game almost perfectly. Pickens’s ability to take the top and make big contest catches allows Lamb to line up just about anywhere. They can stretch the field in many ways, opening up the middle and allowing both the run game and the tight end to feast. Pickens had his best season as a pro, finishing with 93 receptions, 1,429 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns. Lamb finished with 75 receptions, 1,077 receiving yards, and three touchdowns. Despite missing some games due to injury, 2025 is Lamb’s fifth straight 1,000-yard receiving season.

Williams was mostly written off after suffering a major knee injury. The Cowboys took a chance on him, and he delivered. The Cowboys have a phenomenal offensive line that facilitates both the pass and run game. Behind them, and paired with the receiving duo, Williams had his best season as a pro. Finishing 2025 with 1,201 rushing yards on 4.8 yards per carry and 11 rushing touchdowns. A monster season from a player written off, he was just recently rewarded for his breakout season with a great contract from the Cowboys.

Finally, the man himself, Prescott. He, unfortunately, suffers from being the Cowboys quarterback. Being one of the most hated teams in the league tends to push out just how good Dak is. He has cemented himself as one of the league's premier quarterbacks, despite the many follies of the Cowboys. 2025 was his fourth 4,000-yard passing season, finishing with 404 completions, 4,552 receiving yards, 30 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. With Pickens likely getting tagged, there is no reason, barring injuries, that the Cowboys won’t be another top-five offense in the league.
