Who Will Be Josh Allen’s Main Target in 2025?

NFL

Buffalo Bills training camp is just around the corner, but one question remains. Who will be Josh Allen’s go-to target? Star wide receiver Mack Hollins left the Bills this offseason, joining the Patriots and reuniting with Bills longtime WR1 Stefon Diggs. Their exit leaves a huge hole in Buffalo’s depth chart. The scramble for that top spot is sure to grab fans' attention this summer.

Despite no clear WR1, NFL.com’s Gennaro Filice still anticipates that the Bills will have the best offense coming into the 2025 season. This confidence is rooted in the team's remaining wide receivers, Keon Coleman, Khalil Shakir, and Curtis Samuel. This trio will likely be the favored endzone targets for Allen next season. The three will be closely watched and heavily monitored through training camp as they look to fill that leading WR1 role.

Khalil Shakir began his rookie season as WR4 on the depth chart but proved himself a reliable target as the seasons continued. Shakir put himself on the map last year as a steady target for Allen, hauling in 76 catches and leading the team in over 800 receiving yards. He also punched in four touchdowns. Given his longtime chemistry with Allen, Shakir is the front-runner for that number one spot.

Keon Coleman was the Bills' first pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, with hopes that he would be Diggs’ best replacement. However, Coleman’s rookie season was less than impressive and plagued by injuries. Watching his game tapes from last season, Coleman was critical of himself, saying, “You got to be better, simple as that." The rookie ended his season with 29 catches and four touchdowns. Entering his second year, however, Coleman has the potential for a breakout year and could make a push for WR1.

Curtis Samuel’s debut in Buffalo last year also fell short of expectations. The wide receiver battled multiple injuries, only recording 37 receptions and fewer than 400 receiving yards. However, once healthy, Samuel notched two crucial touchdowns last season in the Bills'wildcard win over Denver and the heartbreaking AFC championship loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Samuel, now accustomed to the playbook and fully healthy, is a strong contender for WR1.
