Who Will Win the Fight Between One-Eyed Jack and “Savage” Ramon?
Jack Jenkins is set to face Ramon Taveros, and at their current standing, Jenkins has a record of 13-4-0 and Taveros a record of 10-3-0, making the experience go to Jenkins. Overall, though Jenkins is the heavier of the two, which could mean that if grappling is to occur between the two, especially after the second round, Jenkins could find his path to a successful submission. Ramon can keep him at distance before this happens as he has reach and height favoring a striking scenario where developing a ground strategy would be less of a priority for Jenkins. The biggest thing for Jenkins would be to avoid the ground altogether until Ramon is gassed because of the chance to encounter the same obstacles he encountered in his previous fight against Gabriel Santos. The specific obstacle too was the rear-naked choke Santos secured in the third round versus Taveros. Taveros fared no better too because of his last fight going to decision against Davey Grant.
Taveros himself would do well to employ heavy hits predicted in the upcoming Ulberg vs. Reyes fight set to be aired on the 27th of this month. In fact, Taveros has employed striking in most of his past victories with left hooks and hammerfists. Even then, most of his past fights have ended in KO/TKO. These fights in which he secured these wins too didn’t even make it to the fifth round unlike notable fighters in the past like Diego Lopes. It would seem in that light that Jack may actually benefit if the fight does go to a decision. However, it is unlikely as both are coming away from a loss and would do well to secure the W or win to increase their current standing in the featherweight division.
Hopefully, Jenkins can dodge the left hooks that Taveros dishes out, too, because the most outstanding thing about Taveros was that his fight against Cortavious Romious ended in under 30 seconds. It ended in the first round alone due to the left hook sustained by Romious. Jenkins could return a strong striking strategy, though if the distance between the two is closed, he follows up with body and uppercuts, or even a hook of his own to get Taveros off balance. Regardless, if this fight goes to the ground or remains standing until a KO/TKO it's likely we will see it end before the third round as both fighters have the motivation and potential to close the fight early.
