Who Will Win the Old-Fashioned Shootout at Soldier Field?

NFL

The Dallas Cowboys take on the Chicago Bears in an NFC clash on Sunday. The Bears look to forget their unfortunate loss against the Lions from a week ago. On the other hand, the Cowboys look to keep their momentum going and hope to leave the game Sunday with two wins in a row. The Bears recently hired Ben Johnson this past offseason, and he looks to get his first win of the season. Both teams have something to prove in this pivotal game.

Perfect Weather in Chicago

The weather at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois, will be around 73 degrees with a 25 percent chance of rain, which is projected to be a beautiful day for some football. During game time, the winds are predicted to be at 11 miles per hour. Having low winds is crucial for a successful passing day because strong winds can significantly alter the ball’s trajectory, making it difficult to throw accurately. With low winds, we may see a big passing day from both quarterbacks, Dak Prescott and Caleb Williams. These moderate temperatures should be an excellent environment for both offenses to have the opportunity to make plays and prove themselves.

Cowboys Look to Continue Their Momentum

The Cowboys go into a game after winning a nail-biter game against longtime rivals, the New York Giants, a week ago. Last week, despite winning the game, they allowed Russell Wilson to throw for 450 yards. Letting up that many receiving yards is inexcusable for a team trying to be a Super Bowl contender. After their game against the Giants, they went into this week with an understanding of the mistakes they had made. It was very important to watch the film and correct mistakes from previous weeks before going into this game against Chicago. If they do not do this, then Caleb Williams will have a field day against the Swiss cheese Cowboys' defense. Dak Prescott has been a super clutch player and leader this season. Prescott looks to continue the Cowboys' winning streak this week by being super poised and precise in every play he makes. With most of the Bears' starting corners not practicing this week, we should see them activating players off the practice squad. This means that the Cowboys' passing day should be ready to fire on all cylinders. Another player who has been a big success for the Cowboys is Javonte Williams. Williams is a vital part of their offense as not just a power back, but also in the receiving game. On the defensive side of the ball, they need someone to step up. Their defense has struggled getting to the quarterback fast enough, so they can put less pressure on the secondary.

Bears Look to Bounce Back

The Bears look to redeem themselves from the unfortunate blowout they suffered a week ago. This week, they will play a Cowboys defense that allowed 813 yards in two games. The only problem is that the Bears are having serious injuries on both sides of the ball. They will hope to have D’Andre Swift in this game because of his versatility as not just a runner, but a receiver as well. Using him in the run game will open up the play action and allow Williams to find his receivers downfield. This will put pressure on the Cowboys' defense, which was terrible against the Giants. Ben Johnson should look to capitalize on the seams and attack Kaiir Elam, who has been one of the worst corners in the NFL this season. With DaRon Bland already being ruled out and Trevon Diggs questionable to play, the Bears will need to capitalize on this and attack the Cowboys' defense in the flats or even over the top. Additionally, they need to control the line of scrimmage and play a balanced game of football. The Bears will need a big performance from Rome Odunze, who looked like an elite, number-one wide receiver a week ago. If they can get him going, then the Cowboys will be in trouble.

Game Significance & Betting Outlook

The battle on Sunday between the two teams is a crucial part of their season because a win can build confidence for the teams as they go into the tougher parts of their schedule. The Cowboys look to build on their momentum and exploit the Bears' recent injury struggles, while the Bears look to take advantage of the Cowboys' horrific pass defense. The betting line for the game is that the Cowboys are favored by one point, and the over-under is fifty points, which means Vegas thinks it should be a shoot-out. I think the Cowboys will win this game by a touchdown, covering their spread with ease.
