Why a Former AEW Star Will Be the Next NXT Women's North American Champion
Ever since she made her debut on NXT, Blake Monroe has been destined to be a star. Literally, on the June 3rd episode of NXT, the WWE put the spotlight on Monroe as she made her entrance while a brawl between the NXT Women’s locker room was going on. Since that night, the former AEW star has been a fixture on NXT television. Now, after wrapping up her feud with Jordynne Grace, the Glamour has set her sights on the NXT Women’s North American Championship, currently held by Sol Ruca. If Monroe survives “the wave,” she will be experiencing her first taste of championship gold in the WWE, which is a sign of things to come.
By being a former AEW Women’s Champion, Monroe has experience being the top woman on the roster. Yet, with the NXT Women's Division being so big and competitive, Blake Monroe has set her sights on the mid-card title to help elevate her into the NXT Women’s Championship picture later down the road. Winning the North American Championship is the next logical step in her progression on the Silver and Black brand. With the title being very new, only two years old, Monroe has the chance to elevate the championship and make it her own. Due to her being a very popular star inside and outside the ring, the 2024 Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament winner could become the first person fans think of when they think about the NXT Women’s North American Championship.
Her road to the championship is already beginning. On the October 7th episode of NXT, Monroe confronted both Ruca and Zaria and made her intentions for challenging for the Women’s North American Championship clear, while also driving a wedge between the tag team known as Zaruca. The wrestler formerly known as Mariah May will take on Zaria on the October 14th episode of NXT, and if the Glamour wins, it looks like she will step up to Sol Ruca next. A matchup between those two will most likely occur at the Halloween Havoc Premium Live Event, which is scheduled for October 25th. That would be the time to transition to a new champion to have Blake Monroe submit her status as a champion in NXT, which could subsequently lead her to a path to becoming the NXT Women’s Champion in the near future. The spotlight shines bright on Blake Monroe, and it will shine even brighter when she becomes the new NXT Women’s North American Champion.
