Why Is Having Tag Team Championships Important for the Evolve Brand?
Last month, the WWE crowned the first-ever Evolve Champion and Evolve Women’s Champion. However, one glaring need that is missing from the new brand is the Evolve Tag Team Championships. Evolve’s Tag Team division is filled with promise and potential, mixed with independent veterans and young and up-and-coming talent in the WWE. Jackson Drake and Kali Armstrong had their signature moment by being crowned the inaugural champions of their respective championships. Now, it is time to give a tag team their moment to etch their names in WWE history.
A team like Swipe Right would benefit from those tag team titles because they are the top heels on the brand. Before the Vanity Project was formed, Ricky Smokes and Brad Baylor were the egotistical douchebags who believed that they run the Evolve brand. Building the tag team division around them would be the smart way to go, and giving other tag teams opportunities to knock them off and showcase their skills will only help grow the division. Another team to look out for is Adrenaline Drip, the newly formed tag team consisting of Jack Cartwheel and Cappuccino Jones. This tag team is high-flying and exciting to watch. They are two WWE ID prospects who bring the high-octane energy to the ring and the proverbial babyfaces of the tag team division. Both have had minimal success in singles action, but have since found success in tag team action. Matchups between Swipe Right and Adrenaline Drip for the tag team titles could be matches that people talk about as the Evolve brand builds its following. There are other makeshift tag teams that the WWE could make to grow the division, but those teams do not have the same following as Swipe Right or Adrenaline Drip. There are also tag teams in NXT that are not being utilized right now that get some TV time in Evolve. The High Ryze is the first team to come to mind as a team that could benefit from this, as they could showcase their dominance and strength, and their personality that they have not shown on NXT.
Evolve is a growing brand, and having tag team championships is the next step in that growth. Teams such as Swipe Right and Adrenaline Drip would benefit from having championships to defend or chase after. Underused teams in NXT could use the Evolve spotlight for growth and to get opportunities to win tag team gold. The next step for Evolve is clear, and now it is up to the powers that be to showcase the Evolve Tag Team Division by crowning Tag Team Champions.
