Why Is SummerSlam a Two Night Event?
WWE announced a while back that SummerSlam is going to be a two-night event just like WrestleMania. Why are these changes happen? Is it because Triple H wants to add more matches to SummerSlam, or is it because fans are tired of SummerSlam ending late, like WrestleMania in the past? This change gives more superstars a chance to shine at SummerSlam. Is this two-night event a good or a bad thing? Can it give WWE more time instead of rushing storylines for SummerSlam? Will it give hype for the fans, eventually building up to the event, or will it be an excessive amount of unnecessary matches being added to SummerSlam? This two-night SummerSlam will give Triple H more time to build more matches during episodes Raw or SmackDown, eventually giving superstars more storyline to build off of and more championships to be defended during this event as well including some mid card titles like the Women’s United States Championship or the Women’s Intercontinental Championship being defended. Also, will the WWE Championship be defended at this event by John Cena? Only time will tell as we get closer to this massive event.
How will WWE build up storylines? Will they give certain superstars matches like Cody Rhodes or John Cena? Can we see a match between these two for the WWE Championship at this event? Will we see a tag team match between Seth Rollins and Bron Breakker against Roman Reigns and CM Punk? Could we see Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez defend their WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships at this event? LA Knight may go after Jacob Fatu and challenge him to a rematch. With the amount of time WWE has, this can give them more time to build on storylines throughout Monday Night Raw or SmackDown, truly leading them to success at this event, if this two-night event is successful like WrestleMania.
With this new format that WWE introduced for SummerSlam, I truly believe that superstars will get a better opportunity at this event. The WWE will have seven matches for both nights, with a total of 14 matches. Superstars who deserve an opportunity at this big event could make them big stars in the WWE. Superstars who missed WrestleMania this year will have an opportunity at SummerSlam, as SummerSlam is considered the second biggest pay-per-view behind WrestleMania. Also, this year, SummerSlam will be taking place at MetLife Stadium in New York. MetLife hosted WrestleMania 35 in 2019, marking this as the third event for WWE to take place in MetLife Stadium.
