Why Should ‘The Celtic Warrior’ Become a Grand Slam Champion?

WWE

A Grand Slam Champion is someone who has won all four major championships in professional wrestling. In WWE, the Grand Slam consists of the WWE or World Heavyweight Championship, the Intercontinental Championship, the United States Championship, and one set of the tag team belts. Many current superstars and Hall of Famers have completed the requirements to be listed as members of the Grand Slam Champions, but there is a current member of the WWE roster who is one championship away from etching his name in history. After putting up another amazing performance in a losing effort to Rusev at Clash in Paris, it’s safe to say that Sheamus is more than deserving of becoming a Grand Slam Champion.

Sheamus has been with the WWE since 2009, where he has become a multiple-time world champion. He won the WWE Championship in December 2009, making him the first Irish-born wrestler to win the promotion’s top title. Throughout his career, Sheamus has also won the World Heavyweight Championship, the United States Championship, the tag team titles on multiple occasions, the Royal Rumble, and the Money in the Bank contract. If Sheamus were to retire today, he would go down as one of the hard-working superstars in company history. However, many feel that Sheamus should complete the Grand Slam and hold the Intercontinental Championship before his career comes to an end.

When Sheamus is not competing for championships, he is putting up some of the best and hardest-hitting matches of his career. From bangers with Gunther to Drew McIntyre, Sheamus proves that he is a jack of all trades, that no matter what position he is put in, he can deliver every single night. Also, Sheamus is no stranger to the Intercontinental title, as he has previously challenged for the belt on multiple occasions, with every challenge ending unsuccessfully. Fans will have to wait and see if Sheamus can finally capture the only title he has yet to hold in WWE.

Also, with Sheamus signing a contract extension earlier this year, it leaves fans excited about the prospect of it happening. While some believe it should be a crowning moment at WrestleMania, others just want to see it happen no matter what show it happens on. Sheamus is capable of carrying the mid-card division and has always been a company man, performing all the tasks that are asked of him at every show. It would be a missed opportunity if Sheamus retires without becoming a Grand Slam Champion.
