Why the Beast Incarnate Should Be John Cena's Final Opponent

WWE

It was a match that many fans were looking forward to, but they were left disappointed. John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar was underwhelming to say the least, and the same can be said for last Saturday’s WrestlePalooza event, as it did not deliver. Lesnar squashed Cena in a match that only lasted eight minutes. It was a disappointment for Cena fans who wanted to see their hero win in one of the last stops of his farewell tour; however, if one thing is for certain, it is that the 17-time World Champion is not going out like that, and he should be looking for a rematch against Lesnar soon. With only a few months left before he officially retires, the WWE has the story that, if executed properly, can end Cena’s farewell tour on a high note.

First, the squash match at WrestlePalooza must be the first step in the Leader of the Cenation returning for a rematch. It was reminiscent of their match at SummerSlam 2014, where the Beast squashed Cena to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The 2013 Royal Rumble winner will be looking for a rematch and should demand that Lesnar confront him. This could start at Crown Jewel, where Cena is advertised, and who would come out to confront him? Paul Heyman, Lesnar’s advocate. Heyman could be the guy who tries to persuade the five-time U.S. Champion from taking a fight with Lesnar. In response, Cena would most likely disrespect the Oracle in some way that would put him on a collision course with the Vision. Adding Cena to a program with the Vision would help set up the buildup to an eventual WarGames match at Survivor Series, which takes place in the last week of November. The four-time Elimination Chamber match winner could be a part of the babyface team at Survivor Series against the heel team of the Vision, which should include Lesnar. The Beast interacted with the Vision on the final SmackDown before WrestlePalooza and could look for another opportunity to destroy Cena inside the confines of WarGames. Also, with Cena’s last scheduled appearances in Boston and New York coinciding with the buildup to the annual November Premium Live Event, this presents two options for the WWE to reinsert Lesnar into the feud and get the jump on Cena in the process, especially in his home state of Massachusetts.

At Survivor Series: WarGames, the babyface team should pick up the victory over the Vision and Lesnar. With that being said, after the November PLE, there is only one more date on Cena’s farewell tour, December 13th, Saturday Night’s Main Event on Peacock. This is where it should all come to an end, Cena and Lesnar, one more time in a match where the WWE Universe will say goodbye to one of the greatest wrestlers of all-time. By setting up the squash match at WrestlePalooza, the WWE has a chance to set up how Cena can conquer the Beast one more time before calling it a career. The Worldwide Leader in Sports Entertainment has not done the best job in executing Cena’s last run, but with only three months left, they have the story and the opponent to end it strong. All they have to do is execute it properly to send the 17-time World Champion riding off into the sunset with one final victory.
