Why Was Now the Right Time for the Vision to Turn on the World Heavyweight Champion
The conclusion of today’s episode of Raw seemed like it would end like it usually does, with The Vision standing tall over their opposition. However, the WWE threw a curveball at fans by having Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed turn on Seth Rollins in dramatic fashion to close out their trip in Western Australia. It started with CM Punk winning a Triple Threat number one contender’s match to get another shot at Rollins’ World Heavyweight Championship. As the Best in the World celebrated in the ring, The Vision made their way down the ring and took out Punk as well as LA Knight and Jey Uso, the other participants in the match. As the credits rolled with RAW’s main faction standing tall, Breakker did the unthinkable: he turned on his former leader and speared him, thus breaking away from the group. He looked at Reed and told him he had a choice, and the Aussie native chose to stay with the two-time Intercontinental Champion. Reed hit his signature “Tsunami” finisher on Rollins and stood with Breakker as Paul Heyman held both their arms in the air, looking down on their former leader. The duo, nicknamed by many as “B and B Security,” is now on its own, but are they ready for it, and is now the right time for them to turn on Rollins?
The long-term answer is yes because these two stars are the future of the WWE. Especially, Breakker, as the two-time NXT Champion, has been dubbed the “Future of WrestleMania,” and he has certainly looked like it since his arrival on the main roster. The WWE does not break up groups unless it is time for a person to break out on their own. They did it with Evolution twice, putting their faith in Randy Orton and Batista to stand out on their own and reach superstardom as singles stars. With Breakker and Reed, you have two stars who broke away from their leader and want to forge their own path to superstardom. Yet, some fans believe that this is too early for the two young guys to be on their own. However, B and B Security have some things playing in their favor.
First, Breakker has been put in a position where many believed he was not ready before. At the start of the NXT 2.0 era, the former Kennesaw State fullback was immediately given the spotlight and thrust into the main event scene on NXT. Breakker was given the ball, and he delivered and became the face of the brand before getting called up. The 27-year-old wrestler has the faith and the trust of the WWE management because of his performance and reputation down in Orlando. He was given opportunities to shine on the main roster, and he has delivered so far. So, standing out on his own is no problem for him, and that type of energy could rub off on Reed, who had not quite gotten those opportunities before joining The Vision. Another thing working for both stars is that they still have Paul Heyman by their side. Heyman, who is a mastermind and a creative genius, has helped mold the careers of countless superstars, such as Brock Lesnar, and he is one of the architects of the Bloodline Story. Having him help Breakker and Reed in front of and behind the camera will do wonders for their careers as they take this next step in their journeys.
Overall, the turn was unexpected and came out of nowhere. The Vision went from a group where fans went from predicting who would be the next wrestler to join to a united front across the WWE to a fractured group where the young guys are breaking off from their leader. Breakker and Reed are the talk of the wrestling community now, and the anticipation to see what they do next is at a fever pitch. Building new stars takes time, but the WWE has decided that the ‘Unpredictable Badass’ and the ‘Tribal Thief’ are ready for superstardom. Only time will tell if they are right, but the beginning steps to the top of the mountain began with turning on Seth Rollins, and that was the correct thing to do.
