Pittsburgh Steelers offensive rookies Will Howard and Kaleb Johnson attended the 31st Annual National Football League Players Association Rookie Premiere. Johnson was chosen by the team in the third round of this year’s NFL Draft. Howard was selected in the sixth round. Howard and Johnson were proud to be wearing their Steelers uniforms for the first time at the NFLPA Rookie Premiere. Howard wore his number 18 jersey, and Johnson wore number 20. The event was in Los Angeles. The NFLPA Rookie Premiere welcomes the next class of NFL players. The NFLPA states, “The event introduces these rising stars to the commercial side of professional football, setting the stage for future endorsement success and financial empowerment.” At the event, rookies signed autographs and participated in photo shoots in their NFL uniforms. They also networked with the league’s business partners. There were 42 NFL rookies in attendance.

Howard is six-foot-four and weighs 236 pounds. He played collegiate football for the Kansas State Wildcats and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Howard led the Buckeyes to victory in the College Football Playoff National Championship last season. He was named Offensive MVP of the championship game. Howard has already become a fan favorite because of his attitude, work ethic, and leadership abilities. During rookie minicamp, he said, “I was hoping in my heart that they'd pick me. I know on that like ‘Hey Rookie’ show they showed a clip of me begging Pittsburgh to pick me just cause it's a long three days and you never know what's gonna happen, but I'm blessed man. I could not be in a better place, and Pittsburgh is gonna get my all every single day.”

Johnson is six-foot-one and weighs 224 pounds. He played college football for the Iowa Hawkeyes. During his time with Iowa, he set single-season records for rushing touchdowns and scoring. Speaking about being drafted by the Steelers, Johnson said, “It was a dream for me and my family. It's an unreal feeling. I can't explain it. I am more than excited now. I am blessed.” Johnson is known for being a versatile player. Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith commented on Johnson shortly after the team drafted him. Smith said, “One of the more instinctive backs that I’ve watched in a couple of years coming out of the draft. Perfect fit regardless of whatever run scheme you’re running. He ran multiple schemes at Iowa.”
