Will Indiana Continue Their Dominance This Week Against Wisconsin?

Coming off a dramatic win and a catch that will go down as one of the greatest in college football history, the Hoosiers aren’t looking to slow down as they look to keep their unbeaten streak alive against Wisconsin on Saturday. The Hoosiers are currently 30-point favorites against the 3-6 Badgers, who are coming off a gritty 13-10 upset over 23rd-ranked Washington in the pouring rain. With the announcement of Luke Fickell returning to Madison next year, and the university rallying behind him, there is hope that they can end the season on a high note. However, they will have to go to Bloomington and beat the second best team in the nation to continue their very slim bowl aspirations.

There is no question this year’s Indiana squad is destined to make a run in the playoffs, and with the way they’ve been playing this year, it looks quite promising for the Hoosiers. Their “test” this Saturday against Wisconsin is pretty much a formality before the Big Ten Championship Game, along with the Purdue game. Wisconsin has had a disaster of a season, with an offense that can barely put up any points and a defense that has surprisingly held their own for some games this season. Indiana’s offensive attack is simply too much for this Badgers defense to contain, especially with how much they have been running the ball lately. Through the air, Fernando Mendoza has proven why he is the Heisman favorite, with 26 passing touchdowns and three rushing, along with over 2300 passing yards. This realistically should be a cakewalk for Indiana, although head coach Curt Cignetti will make sure his players don’t come out on the field with an ounce of complacency, which has been the theme all year.

Wisconsin’s win last week over Washington certainly deflated some of the dismay they have been feeling for the past two months, but unfortunately, it will not roll over into this week. Coach Cig will have his guys ready to play, no matter the opponent, and will not show mercy until the clock hits zero. Indiana will most likely start out slow, as they always do, but by the third quarter, the game should be far out of reach with the offense clicking. Indiana will once again dominate their opponent and win by the score of 52-14.
