Will ‘T.Wrecks’ Continue His First Round Finish Streak?

UFC

Since joining the UFC in 2021, Terrance McKinney has been one of the most exciting fighters. He has yet to go to a decision and always throws caution to the wind. McKinney is dangerous on the feet and on the ground and can finish a fight at any given time. He has a willing dance partner who also likes to throw down, Chris Duncan. Will ‘T.Wrecks’ continue his kill streak or be killed, or will he play it smarter as he tries to climb up the rankings?

McKinney is speedy and very powerful, and likes to move forward early and often. He takes enormous risks and tries to go for the finish the second the fight starts, so you can’t relax for a single second. If McKinney can get you to the ground, he has heavy ground and power, and he aggressively looks to advance his position to finish. If he doesn’t get caught and overextend, I think he will overwhelm Duncan and hurt him early and often. The first big shot that lands will open a floodgate of barrages that I believe will eventually finish Duncan in the first round.

Duncan has clubbing strikes that carry power. He has good striking defense, especially when he’s fighting on the back foot, as he showed in his last fight against Mateusz Rebecki. Duncan has a nasty step in the elbows that he will blast if his opponent is aggressively moving forward, which could be effective in this fight. The best path to victory for Duncan is to circle away early and try to keep McKinney at a distance, and when he stops advancing momentarily, to blast his body kicks to slow him down. If he can use his defense and striking IQ to survive the first round, I think he will be able to pick McKinney apart from the outside, and if Duncan shoots for a takedown out of fatigue to catch him in a guillotine and submit him.

This is going to be fireworks right out of the gate and a fight you're not going to want to miss. Terrance McKinney has gone through so much in his life and is finally reaching his potential. A finish in a fight like this is almost inevitable and could result in a battle of the night bonus, knockout, or submission. Whichever way this fight goes, you're not going to want to miss it and all the other great action. Tonight, for UFC 323, with the main card start time of 10:00 p.m. EST.
