WrestleMania 42: Who is the Real Heel of the Men’s World Heavyweight Title Match?

As chaos continues to unfold between Roman Reigns and CM Punk on the road to their explosive match at WrestleMania 42, the world title almost becomes secondary to what is going on. Both men have been neck-and-neck when it comes to hurling insults at one another, with each man throwing a punch at their opponent. The intensity has reached a point where even the Usos have needed to get involved due to how much has been said about their families. The issue with the story is that both men are believed to be the good guy in the tale, but one question remains: who really is the heel in this matchup?

Roman Reigns May Have Changed, But the Tribal Chief Is Still There

Even though Reigns claims he has left his old ways in the past, his tactics continue to show that there is a part of him that never left once the Bloodline split. Reigns feels that he has a major responsibility as ‘Head of the Table’ to be the biggest star on the Raw brand and defend his family from people like Punk. After Punk made comments about his father, Reigns told the Usos that they should be getting an apology from Punk as well, reminiscent of the way he would order the Usos to do his own bidding. Reigns continues to give orders even though the Bloodline no longer exists. Reigns also tries to get in the heads of his opponents by mocking them, as shown when Reigns called Punk old despite being only a few years younger than him. Reigns still has some heel tactics inside of him, but understands that he is truly on his own and cannot rely on his family all the time to do his own bidding.

CM Punk’s Words Continue to Cross the Line

Punk has always been heelish in his promos, even when he is the babyface of the story. He says whatever he wants, even if it means there are consequences to his words. For weeks, he called out Reigns for the way he treated his family and told him that he was going to bury him at WrestleMania and put him in the ground right next to his deceased father. Punk didn’t back down and called out the Usos for never receiving an apology for the way that Reigns treated them in the Bloodline. His constant bragging and verbal attacks finally led to the Usos and Reigns attacking him, but instead of backing down, he doubled down instead. Punk has a strong way with words, and even though his intention is to get into the head of his opponent, his method of speaking lands him in trouble more times than not. Even if he were to go to a darker side when it comes to delivering scathing remarks, Punk will do so to get an edge over the competition.

Jey Uso Might Be the Real Heel in This Story

The one person who has truly played the role of the heel in this feud isn’t even a participant in the match. Throughout the past few months, Jey Uso has displayed a darker and tougher side of himself, refusing to back down from anyone who mentioned him or his family. L.A. Knight even tried telling him that he started sounding a lot like Reigns did when he was at the peak of his ‘Tribal Chief’ era. This upset Jey, which is why what happened later in the night could indicate that he’s going down a heel path. After Reigns had finished attacking Punk, Jey told his cousin to continue the onslaught. Reigns listened and speared Punk before taking the attack outside the ring and putting Punk through a table. For once, it wasn’t Reigns that was giving out the orders; it was his own blood telling him what to do.

WrestleMania Could Change Everything

Despite the hate that Reigns and Punk have for one another, they truly believe that they are the good guys of the story. For Jey, however, the constant comparisons to Reigns and the disrespect he believes he is receiving will push him to become a major villain at the end of this story. Jey can only golf back so much before his anger gets the best of him. It’s also possible that if Jey becomes the ultimate heel, he plays a role in who wins the world title at WrestleMania.
