WWE Officially Brings Back ‘The Realest Seven-Footer’ on August 3rd, 2026
WWE started releasing vignettes last week of one returning big man. Last week’s vignette featured the popular 2010s tag team of Big Cass and Enzo Amore, along with highlights of their main roster run. This included fans wearing gear from the duo with their iconic catchphrases “Sawft” and “How You Doin’?”. The only thing is that Cass’ outline was the only one consistently shown throughout the vignette. WWE creative separated the two just a year after their 2016 main-roster debut. They attempted to push the 39-year-old as a monster heel by having him boot Amore in the face. This version of the seven-footer was someone with a short temper, bad attitude, and hard-hitting offensive capabilities in the ring. This heel success wouldn’t come to fruition, however.
Last night’s episode of Monday Night Raw saw a second vignette of Cass. This version centered around ‘The Realest Seven-Footer’s’ real-life problems that led up to his WWE release in 2018. This included his ACL tear, “erratic behavior”, being “unreliable”, alcoholism, and depression that caused him to step away from professional wrestling for several years. The seven-footer would make his return to professional wrestling in 2021 as W. Morrissey during Impact Wrestling’s partnership with AEW. He debuted in the best shape of his life and donned more facial hair to look more menacing in the ring than ever before. His run in Impact would be felt to the point he began wrestling full-time for AEW just a year later. Morrissey was with the promotion until a couple of months ago, when his contract expired. He saw some success as an AEW Tag Team Champion as a member of The Learning Tree with fellow stablemate Ricky Starks, who changed his last name to Saints once he hopped over to WWE. Cass’s return to the company gives their creative team several different directions.
Should they only bring back the big man without Amore, WWE creative could try to push ‘The Realest Seven-Footer’ as someone looking to redeem themselves. This would be similar to what Chad Gable is doing right now. The former AEW Tag Team Champion’s redemption attempt would be more impactful, as his story is a lot more personal than the ‘Original El Grande Americano’ power struggle seen throughout WWE and AAA. This angle blurs the lines between real and fictional storytelling, but it can be done amazingly with proper care and direction. WWE could also retry Cass as a monster heel, but it seems unlikely given how long it’s been since his last appearance in the company. ‘The Realest Seven-Footer’ may not be as charismatic or witty on the mic as ‘The Certified G’, but he’s not that far behind. He can cut a good promo as a face or heel whenever needed.
Another alternative would be to reunite Cass and Saints together as a new WWE tag team. They had their tag team success in AEW. WWE has let go of many talented tag teams this year, leaving its tag team division in shambles. Any successful tag team would bolster the division’s roster. It makes some sense since ‘Absolute’ lost both his United States Championship matches against Trick Williams. Saints hasn’t appeared on SmackDown television since his defeat at this year’s Night of Champions. WWE creative now seems to be interested in rekindling a Williams-Carmelo Hayes feud, leaving ‘Absolute’ with absolutely nothing to do. Saints could be a mouthpiece-like figure the same way Amore was, but WWE fans might feel like something’s missing.
The hope for many WWE fans who watched during the 2010s is that WWE brings back Amore and Cass as a duo. ‘The Certified G’ has yet to appear alongside ‘The Realest Seven-Footer’ in the vignettes, but he has popped up in a lot of the video packages with his tag team partner. This could be a sign that either ‘The Realest Seven-Footer’ is returning alone or that WWE is delaying a Cass-Amore reunion, whether by choice or due to them not signing ‘The Certified G’ just yet. The duo was NXT’s Tag Team of the Year in 2015, but they never got to taste any tag team gold during their time in WWE. It’s crazy to think the duo’s return would be considered a nostalgia run, but that nostalgia and fan appreciation could help them achieve WWE Tag Team Championships and revitalize WWE’s Tag Team Division. A potential surprise would be for Amore to appear alongside his WWE tag team partner in the final vignette. This is likely to be on next week’s episode of Monday Night Raw at Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California, if they follow the current pattern of Monday night vignettes. A SmackDown or SummerSlam vignette showing the pair together just before August 3rd would send the WWE Universe ablaze.
