Yankees Get Revenge on the Angels to Take 79th Win of the 2026 Season
In the first game of a three-game set against the Los Angeles Angels, the New York Yankees suffered their 60th loss of the 2026 season, 10-1. New York knows they’re better than the current worst team in the American League and had to pick up the slack from Monday night. They immediately left an impression by leading 3-0 after the first inning. However, the Angels fought back to stay in this game. Nonetheless, the Yankees would take care of business, getting the insurance runs they needed to get the job done, winning 7-3, getting revenge on LA and tying the series heading into the final game of the season.
Spencer Jones Is the MVP of the Game
After scoring the only run in the Yankees’ 10-1 loss on Monday night, Spencer Jones was back at it again. The 25-year-old went two for three with two walks, a home run, and three RBIs. While Cody Bellinger, Luis García Jr., and Jazz Chisholm Jr. all recorded a multi-hit day, it was Jones who helped the Yankees get their 79th win of the season. His RBI single in the ninth inning gave New York a four-run lead and made it nearly impossible for the Angels to mount a comeback. In addition to his clutch offense, the 25-year-old made an amazing sliding catch during the bottom of the fourth off the bat of Los Angeles first baseman Vaughn Grissom. If Jones can continue this type of play throughout September, the Bronx Bombers lineup will be extremely scary to face.
A Look Towards the Future for the Halos
The big news coming out of the MLB Tuesday afternoon was that Stan Kroenke, owner of the Los Angeles Rams, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Rapids, Colorado Mammoth, and Arsenal F.C has bought the Angels from former owner Arte Moreno. Los Angeles has a lot of hope for the future, considering how much success Kroenke has seen as the owner of several franchises such as the Rams and Nuggets. While they may be the laughing stock of the American League now, they have a lot of momentum and hope for the coming years. 2026 may have been struggle but the future is looking bright in Anaheim.
