54-Time 24/7 Champion Released By WWE

WWE

This morning, a very shocking announcement came about when Ron Killings, otherwise known as R-Truth, announced his release from the WWE. This news is seemingly out of nowhere, especially when Truth and John Cena just faced each other at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Truth’s last match was on the May 30th episode of Friday Night SmackDown, where he lost to JC Mateo. It’s very surprising to see Killings be let go, especially after all the laughs and entertainment he’s brought us fans over the past several years.

During his original run when WWE was known as WWF, Truth, known as K-Kwik, was a two-time Hardcore Champion and teamed up with the infamous Road Dogg after D-Generation X and the New Age Outlaws split. He was released in August 2001. After his release from the WWF, Killings went on to become the first African-American NWA Champion. When Truth came back to WWE in 2008, he became known as R-Truth, and in 2010, he won the United States Championship after defeating The Miz. Truth’s popularity started to grow with the creation of “Little Jimmy,” an imaginary friend that represented all the kids who looked up and supported John Cena. A few years later, once the 24/7 Championship was introduced, his infamous skits of winning the championship at a wedding, a golf course, on a plane, and more brought viewers closer to the comedy that Truth was bringing. Once during the Royal Rumble, Truth grabbed a ladder and believed it was the Money in the Bank ladder atch before quickly being eliminated. He also tried to enter the Women’s Royal Rumble in 2024. He also won the United States Championship a second time against Shinsuke Nakamura.

As of last year, he tried to make himself a member of the Judgement Day faction, but that did not come to fruition. Since Cena’s heel turn, everyone wanted to see Truth and Cena interact with one another. We got to see that at Backlash when Truth helped Cena retain the WWE Championship from Randy Orton, however, Truth was thrown through the press conference table by the champion. This set up a match between the two of them at Saturday Night’s Main Event, where Cena retained. Truth challenged JC Mateo to a match on the May 30th episode of Friday Night SmackDown after he accused J.C. Mateo of being Solo Sikoa’s son. Hopefully, we’ll see Truth back in the WWE sooner rather than later whether he’s still wrestling or being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as he absolutely deserves it for what he’s done for teh company.
