Breaking Down the Chargers 2025 Schedule

NFL

One again, the Los Angeles Chargers social media team did it. Another impressive schedule release video which featured a lot of subtle shots at opponents for the 2025 season. The minecraft themed video went viral and gained a lot of attraction. Most importantly, it showcased the order of when the Chargers will see their 2025 opponents.

As expected, the Chargers will open their 2025 campaign in Brazil against the Kansas City Chiefs on September 5th. This will be the second-ever NFL game in Brazil, and it features two of the best from the AFC West. This game will also be the first NFL game being streamed on YouTube. Interestingly enough, the Bolts will start the year with three straight divisional games as they visit the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football the following week. Week Three is a date with the Denver Broncos for the Chargers' home opener. The Chargers round out the first quarter of games in New York against the Giants.

After the cross-country visit, the Chargers return to Los Angeles, where they will continue their battles against the NFC East in a showdown with the impressive Washington Commanders and Jayden Daniels. Week Six showcases a 2020 quarterback draft class battle between Justin Herbert and Tua Tagovailoa in Miami against the Dolphins. Weeks Seven and Eight will be the Chargers' first set of back-to-back home games, with the first date being against the Indianapolis Colts. The second would be a Thursday Night Football game against the Minnesota Vikings. That game will feature Jim Harbaugh facing off against his Michigan National Champion quarterback, J.J. McCarthy

After the mini bye week, the Chargers will kick off Week Nine against the first overall pick of the 2025 Draft, Cam Ward, and the Tennessee Titans. The next week will be another primetime matchup at SoFi as the Pittsburgh Steelers roll into town for Sunday Night Football. This sets up Najee Harris for a revenge game as it will be his first time facing off against the Steelers since signing with the Bolts. The Chargers will be making a second trip to Florida when they face the Jacksonville Jaguars and the second overall pick of the 2025 Draft, Travis Hunter, in Week 11.

Week 12 for the Chargers will be their bye week. This is the latest bye week the Chargers have had since 2019. After the bye, the Chargers will conclude their season series against the Raiders in Los Angeles this time. Week 14 is the start of a very tough last five games of the year. The reigning Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, come to town for Monday Night Football, then the Chargers travel to Arrowhead to take on the Chiefs in what could be a decisive game for the division. Week 16 keeps the Chargers on the road as they enter Jerry World to face the Dallas Cowboys. The final home regular season game features a 2024 AFC Wildcard rematch with C.J. Stroud and the Houston Texans, then in Week 18, the season ends in Denver with the Broncos.

Year one of the Harbaugh era ended with the Chargers at 11-6. This year, the schedule is tougher, but there are some high expectations for the team. The Bolts are getting rewarded for their hype with five primetime games, with the possibility of some other games getting flexed into primetime slots. The season is quickly approaching, and there is probably not one person more anxious than coach Harbaugh to get year two going.
