Can the Cowboys Steal the NFC East from the Eagles?

NFL

After the Dallas Cowboys' monumental win against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thanksgiving, the Cowboys were thankful for the Chicago Bears. The Bears upset the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday, winning 24-15, which now keeps the Cowboys only one and a half games back of the first-place spot in the NFC East. The NFC East has not had a team win the division in consecutive years for over 20 years. The Eagles, who have been playing badly as of late, have given the Cowboys life that many did not expect them to have.

A similar fate could happen to the Eagles as it did two seasons ago in 2023. Similarly, the Eagles began the season hot at 10-1 but ended the season 1-5, which the Cowboys then took advantage of. Dallas would win a game against the Eagles at home in 2023 year which, similarly to this season, has boosted them. The Eagles have five games left this season, and with big division matchups and games versus the Buffalo Bills and Los Angeles Chargers, the Cowboys need to hope they can get some help from those teams. If the Eagles lose two of their remaining five games and the Cowboys win all of theirs, then the Cowboys will take the division from Philadelphia. With the Cowboys coming off two huge wins these past two weeks, they believe they are still in the race for the division.

Of course, before the Cowboys worry about what the Eagles are doing, they need to handle business on their own, and it starts this Thursday at Detroit. After they play the Lions, they play the Minnesota Vikings, Chargers, and division rivals Washington Commanders and New York Giants. Detroit brings troubles to the Cowboys as it does to all teams, but with a defense that has been able to show up for the elite offense, the Cowboys head into the game confident they can improve their win streak to four in a row. It’s been over 20 years since a team has won the NFC East back-to-back years, and the Cowboys hope they can add another year to that streak.
