Is the WarGames Masked Attacker a Former Disciple?

WWE

During the finish of the men’s WarGames match at Survivor Series, CM Punk delivered a GTS to Logan Paul as he looked to close out the match. When it seemed that the faces were going to pick up the victory, a hooded person suddenly jumped into the ring and attacked Punk, hitting him with a super kick and a Curb Stomp. Bron Breakker would take advantage of the situation and hit Punk with a Spear for the win. Although the moves delivered by the masked intruder were very similar to those of Seth Rollins, it’s still too early for him to return due to the injury he suffered at Crown Jewel. However, the connection between Rollins and the hooded figure might be closer than one might think. The person who attacked Punk might just be someone Rollins has had a history with in the past.

Austin Theory has had a rollercoaster of a main roster experience ever since he was called up in 2020. He made his debut alongside Rollins and Buddy Murphy as a disciple of Rollins. He wouldn’t last long in the group, as he would return to NXT later in the year and wouldn’t appear on the main roster again until 2021. Theory would go on to win the Money in the Bank contract, but he would cash in unsuccessfully on Rollins for the United States Championship. Theory would also become a United States champion and WWE Tag Team Champion alongside Grayson Waller.

Theory would disappear from WWE television due to an injury, and Waller would later announce that he and Theory were no longer a tag team. Even though Theory hasn’t been involved with Rollins for the past two years, he has been linked with joining The Vision for a while. Plus, considering Rollins has had Theory under his wing in the past, it certainly makes sense for Theory to once again follow the man who mentored him. Rollins’ injury certainly made WWE pivot their plans when it came to The Vision, but maybe having Theory come in as a Rollins replacement as a way to stick it to him could play as the ultimate swerve.

We won’t know how long WWE will keep the hooded man’s identity a secret, but if it does turn out to be Theory, it will make for great storytelling since WWE is capable of connecting Rollins’ and Theory’s past as a way to move forward with The Vision. Theory is a young superstar with so much potential to become a main event, and putting him alongside someone with the wisdom that Paul Herman has can catapult him to stardom. WWE needs to create new main event stars, and Theory is in a perfect position to become the next big thing in WWE. With Theory becoming the newest member of The Vision, WWE has the fuel to book great storylines for the group for the next year.
