Can the Giants Find Their Way to the Playoffs This Year?

NFL

The chances of any of the 32 NFL teams vary from year to year. This year, the Giants are facing a very daunting season, and the odds do not stand in their favor very much. They are considered the underdogs and, as of now, have a chance to win a total of five games this coming season. However, there are several standout factors that have taken place during OTAs that could push the Giants into going into a potential playoff year.

The Giants haven’t been to the playoffs since the 2022 season. Since then, in a lot of areas, the team has not done well at all. Last season, the Giants finished 3-14. One of the worst records that they have ever had. It was even held over both head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen’s heads, putting them in the hot seat and on the verge of losing their jobs. However, they have done a great job in putting the team back together so far during this offseason.

Both the offensive side and the defensive side play a role in how things may go this season. On the offensive end of things, the Giants have a lot going for them. It starts with the quarterback room. Since the Giants acquired Russell Wilson, he has brought experience and leadership in how the game needs to be played. He brings lots of mentorship to everyone, especially to the future franchise quarterback, Jaxson Dart. The presence of Wilson also builds the team's overall performance.

Not only is the quarterback room being put back together slowly, but Wilson also has highlighted weapons that he is going to be able to use during the year. He has wide receiver Malik Nabers, who had a huge breakout season last year. Wilson has already talked about how great Nabers is and expressed confidence in his abilities. Wilson also has tight end Daniel Bellinger, who is becoming more pivotal for the Giants’ success this coming year.

The Giants have also improved in other areas of the offensive line. Such as signing James Hudson and Greg Van Roten. Having the two of them as additions to the team has helped create more opportunities for the Giants’ running game. They will also be able to help out with quarterback protection for Wilson. On the defensive end, the Giants have been making more improvements on that avenue, too. They bolstered during the draft by picking rookie linebacker Abdul Carter, who is leading in the early odds for the Defensive Rookie of the Year award. The defense is even more promising than it was. They have other promising talents, such as safety Dane Belton and cornerback Deonte Banks, aiming to improve upon what they did last season.

The only thing that is stopping this decently well-put-together team at this point is the schedule that they have for this coming season. The success will depend on their ability to play against several top-tier teams. The Giants will need to pull off several upsets during the first half of their season to secure a playoff spot. If they can pull this off in the first couple of weeks of the season, they should be gold for the rest of the year and the talk of the NFL heading into the playoffs.

While some of the odds may be against the Giants, they do have the power, and the players there to make things happen. They just need to work together to prove that they have what it takes. It starts in OTAs and then in mini-camps, and it should move forward for the rest of the season. If the Giants can get it together, this may be Big Blue’s year.
