Can the Jaguars 24-Year-Old Wideout Continue His Success in 2026?

NFL

The Jacksonville Jaguars had one of the most successful passing attacks in 2026, especially in the second half of the season. Offensive coordinator Grant Udinski and head coach Liam Coen, two of the best offense-minded coaches in the league, knew that the first-half struggles wouldn’t last. Veteran quarterback and Clemson legend Trevor Lawrence turned on the gas, throwing for over 1,000 yards with 13 touchdowns to just one interception in the last six weeks. However, Jacksonville had one of the quietest wide receiver groups in the league, with no star talent at first glance. Two-way wideout Travis Hunter went down with an injury early in the season, causing the Jaguars to trade for Las Vegas Raiders receiver Jakobi Meyers. While Meyers was a huge part of the success in Duval County, another name stood out on the stat sheets throughout the campaign.

That would be 24-year-old wideout Parker Washington. After making some noise during training camp ahead of the 2025 season, fans speculated that Washington would have a growing role in the Jaguars' offense. He’s shown flashes in the past that the Penn State alum could be successful at the NFL level. After Hunter went down with his injury to take him out for the season, the five-foot-10 wideout ended up stepping in and helped Jacksonville turn what looked like a sinking ship right back around. His efforts changed the passing game, led by Lawrence, who led the team with 847 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Even with a successful season in the books for the veteran, critics have continued to question whether this is sustainable success or just a flash in the pan.

The former Nittany Lion is expected to return right back to the same starting role in 2026. After the Jaguars lost Clemson running back Travis Etienne in free agency, the ground game will not be as successful this season. This means Udinski will likely put more effort into the passing game once again, giving the Mississippi native a high-usage role in the offense. Jacksonville also didn’t sign a big-name receiver in free agency or draft a wideout early in the 2026 NFL Draft, giving the 24-year-old a sense of job security. If Washington can continue to grow and build on his success from 2025, the Jaguars are likely to extend the receiver and have their wideout of the future in the former sixth-round pick from 2023.
