Can the Lions Take Down the Ravens Under the Lights on Monday Night Football?

NFL

The Lions looked shaky in their first game against the Packers, but quickly turned it around in a blowout win against Chicago. After starting the season with two division opponents, the Lions head off to Baltimore to take on Lamar Jackson and company. With the Ravens also being 1-1, it makes for an interesting game where one team will come out above .500. We’ll see if the Lions can carry their momentum from last week into this week.

The Baltimore Ravens excel in home games, with a home record of 6-2 last season. M&T Bank Stadium has always been a tough place to play for visitors, with a loud crowd and strong defense making a packed stadium sound even more chaotic. Yet the Lions were undefeated when playing as the visiting team last season. They weren’t affected by the crowd noise or the fact that everyone was cheering against them. This game will be a true test to see if the Lions can keep that undefeated streak alive.

Another interesting storyline for this game is the battle between two Pro Bowl quarterbacks, Lions’ Jared Goff and Ravens’ Jackson. With very different playstyles, it will be interesting to see which one ultimately comes out on top. With Lamar being more of a mobile quarterback who can get out of the pocket, the Lions will have a hard time keeping him in the pocket. Goff is completely the opposite, a strong pocket-passer who rarely escapes the pocket. Although the Lions have more weapons on the offensive side of the ball, Lamar himself is a presence that has to be taken care of every single snap.

Dan Campbell’s aggressive play-calling against the veteran staff of Harbaugh and the Ravens will be a clash of great football minds. While both of these teams have high playoff hopes and are favorites in their division, this game will tell if they are ready for that type of environment. This game will sound and act like a loud January game with high motors and intensity all game. This prime-time, Monday night game will create an environment where Goff and company will have to limit the mistakes and hold on to the football.
