Pit Bull Drama Puts Cardinals Quarterback in the Spotlight
Talented. Controversial. Polarizing. These are all words that describe the perception of Kyler Murray. Although some Cardinals fans love him for his talent, some hate him for his actions off the field. He has a strong personality that, in some cases, has gotten him in trouble. Kyler Murray has caused chaos with his recent Instagram post. This has not been the first controversy that Murray has been involved in.
Posing in Michael Vick Jersey with His Dog
Just recently, Kyler Murray posed with his Pit Bull in an Instagram post. Although that sounds innocent enough, he was wearing a Michael Vick jersey, who has a history of being abusive with dogs. According to the New York Post, Michael Vick was arrested in 2007 for running a dog-fighting ring in which 70 animals were taken away; these were predominantly Pit Bulls. Kyler Murray, wearing Vick’s jersey in this photo, made many upset. He has since taken the post down and apologized, saying that he is sorry to anybody who was affected by his actions. Murray has come out and stated that he stands against animal cruelty and wore the jersey because he admired who Michael Vick was as a player. Michael Vick is not the same person he used to be. He has gotten his life together since making these poor decisions. He now coaches the Norfolk State Spartans and works to prevent people from making the kind of decisions that he made. This was a strange mistake for Kyler Murray to make, though. Murray assured fans that he treats his dogs with kindness. However, this post had many people scratching their heads.
Kyler Murray continues to stir controversy. Even if this was some unfortunate coincidence, it is difficult to understand how Kyler Murray could post this picture without thinking that people would be upset. Looking up to Michael Vick as a child, it could make sense that he was trying to pay tribute to him. It is just difficult to understand the purpose of including his Pit Bull in the post. This is not the first controversy Kyler Murray has been involved in. In 2022, his contract stated that he had to watch four hours of film, and he felt disrespected by that. The contract was then changed to not include that stipulation. Another time, in 2023, Kyler Murray was asked about getting Marvin Harrison Jr. the ball and said that it is not his job. Fans thought that in that situation, he failed to take accountability. Kyler Murray is a leader of the Cardinals. He will need to watch what he says and posts off the field if he wants to set a good example for the team.
