Can the Panamanian Bantamweight Continue Her Win Streak?

UFC

February is shaping up to be an exciting month with many exciting matchups in its Fight Night-heavy month. Fans are particularly excited for February 21st when Sean Strickland will take on Anthony Hernandez. However, this event includes an exciting rematch that some may not be thinking of. Joselyne Edwards is fighting Nora Cornolle for a Bantamweight Division showdown that should have many on the edge of their seats.

Their first matchup was in 2023 at Fight Night 226 in Paris, Cornolle won by unanimous decision. Since then, both fighters have taken different paths through the Bantamweight Division ranks. Each has earned notable victories, which will set up a high-stakes rematch. The stakes are specifically high for Edwards, especially as she enters this rematch 0-1. However, the Panomonian Bantamweight is entering this bout riding her best run in her career so far. She currently is on a three-fight winning streak, with victories over Tamires Vidal, Chelsea Chandler, and Priscila Cachoeira. She showcased an aggressive finishing ability and a lot of confidence in the octagon. Cornolle will be a tough opponent, but has not had much of a momentum boost since their first bout. She has gained two victories but also two losses since fighting Edwards, which includes her most recent loss to Koral Rosa in August of 2025. Edwards looks like she is in a much different place than her earlier losses, making her the fan favorite going into the fight. Her style is more polished and more aggressive, setting herself up nicely in the Bantamweight Division. While the 30-year-old Panamanian wants to score this statement win, Cornolle will not be a walk in the park. She is a seasoned opponent with dynamic skills, looking to bounce back into the win column.

A win here for Edwards would speak volumes about her evolution as a fighter. This can be a statement win built on momentum and legitimacy, putting her in a spot for more talented opponents. She has and can continue to show why she deserves to be in the upper tier of the sport. A win here is not just about the rematch, but a career-defining moment for ‘La Pantera’.
