Making the Case Why the Giants Rookie Quarterback Deserves the 2025 Rookie of the Year Award

NFL

Being selected as a Rookie of the Year candidate or picked all around isn’t just about flashy moments and how big a person's name was on the football field during the regular season. Being the Rookie of the Year means a player gave the team what it had been looking for. In the Giants’ case, they may have a Rookie of the Year in their young quarterback, Jaxson Dart. Since stepping onto the field earlier this season, Dart has proven he can turn a team around. He has brought impact and growth and has already found a way to change the direction of the Giants’ franchise, a piece of what this team had been missing for a long time.

Dart changed the direction of this offense during this season. He got the Giants to start working together as one during this past season. This rookie managed to get the Giants to have a fast tempo on the field that their opponents could not keep up with. The 22-year-old also helped ensure the team had fewer dead drives. When former Giants quarterback Daniel Jones was still playing with the team, the Giants would only hold onto the ball for a total of two minutes before it had to be turned back over to their opponents during game time. Dart can get his team down the field faster. When he gets them into the red zone, his team is more organized than it had been in the last several years that both Jones and the rest of the team had been together.

This young quarterback very much deserves to be the Rookie of the Year. Most young quarterbacks who get on the field are very rattled by what they are about to face. Both Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward were dealing with their nerves a lot of the time when they were on the field. Dart was not; he took dares every time he played. He took risks to the point that he risked several concussions and still ended up with only one during the season. The 22-year-old quarterback always remained calm under the pressure he faced. Even with an inconsistent defensive line all season, he maintained excellent production. Dart was a leader, and when a play went wrong on the field, this young rookie was there to fix it.

The 22-year-old has been a leader from the start, and he was the dual threat the Giants had been looking for in their future quarterback. He makes smart decisions and knows what he wants to do when he gets on the field. Dart can escape pressure without a problem and knows how to pick up critical third downs even without having help from his offensive line. If he could not find anyone he trusted to catch the ball, he took matters into his own hands. Most of the time, those plays worked for him, and they often got the Giants what they needed most, and that was points on the scoreboard.

Dart did not just come to the Giants; he came in ready to play. His mindset was in the right spot where it should have been for New York all along. The 22-year-old managed to stabilize this team and elevate them to the next best level. This first-round pick also managed to redefine the expectations placed on him. That’s not just a great rookie season; that's a franchise-altering one for any player who manages to come in and turn a losing streak around.
