Cleveland Browns Add Former Huskies Wide Receiver in 2026 NFL Draft
The Cleveland Browns came into the 2026 NFL Draft needing offensive line help and wide receivers, and general manager Andrew Berry has doubled down on the latter. With the 39th pick, Cleveland selected former Washington Huskie wideout Denzel Boston to pair up with KC Concepcion, who was drafted with the 24th pick in the first round. Boston had often been mocked to go late in the first by multiple draft analysts, and now finds himself going west to Cleveland. The Idaho native is coming off a season in which he led all Huskies with 881 receiving yards and 62 catches, on his way to being selected to the All-Big Ten Third Team.
Starting his career with a redshirt in 2022, Boston didn’t see much of the field until 2023, when he played in all 14 games for a Washington team that was a win away from being crowned National Champions. The following year was his breakout campaign, as he caught nine touchdowns and 63 passes for 834 yards. Across his last two years in college, the 22-year-old hauled in 20 touchdowns, showcasing his propensity to excel in the red zone. Boston only ran two drills at the NFL Combine, recording a 35-inch vertical jump and a time of 4.28 seconds in the 20-yard shuttle.
What sticks out most about Boston is his size, as at six-foot-three and 212 pounds, the Washington product will give whoever is starting at quarterback a fighting chance at downfield passes. Paired with Concepcion, the two should not clash much, as Boston will find himself on the outside with the former Aggie being used as a slot receiver. His professional comparison is the Los Angeles Rams All-Pro deep threat Puka Nacua, giving high hopes for Cleveland fans once Boston takes the field. Both receivers measure at similar heights and body types-Boston and Nacua were also scrutinized for their speed coming into the league, as well. If head coach Todd Monken decides on starting a younger quarterback like Shedeur Sanders or Dillon Gabriel on opening day, Berry certainly helped out by giving them such a talented deep threat in Boston.
