Cowboys Record Prediction 2025
The NFL recently had its annual schedule release, revealing all eighteen weeks of matchups for the 2025 regular season. As usual, a large portion of the NFL fan base has its eyes on the Dallas Cowboys and who they’ll be playing each week. The Cowboys have had an eventful offseason and will be looking to improve from a seven-and-ten record. Dallas will have eight home games and a Week Ten bye.
Starting with the in-division matchups, we have to look at the current state of the NFC East. This is a division with three expected contenders. Philadelphia is the obvious favorite, coming off a Super Bowl victory, but Washington is not far behind with the 2024 Offensive Rookie of the Year at quarterback in Jayden Daniels and a much-improved offensive line. The Cowboys will also be in contention for the division title, as they have consistently been in the race over the last five seasons. The injury to Dak Prescott played a major role in derailing their season last year.
The Giants are not expected to be legitimate contenders next season but have a threatening defense with Dexter Lawrence, Brian Burns, Kayvon Thibodeaux, and new addition Abdul Carter in the front seven. They’ve also made key additions in the secondary. Overall, this is one of the tougher divisions in the NFL. I predict the Cowboys to get swept by the Eagles, sweep the Giants, and split with the Commanders—giving them a three-and-three divisional record.
The Cowboys travel to Chicago in Week Three to face an improved Bears team with Ben Johnson calling plays. Ultimately, the Bears may take time to fully gel, and in an early-season matchup, I predict the Cowboys take this one. The next week, Dallas hosts another NFC North opponent in the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football. This is a tough matchup for both sides. The Packers established themselves as a power run team last season with Josh Jacobs, and the Cowboys don’t match up well defending the run, so I predict the Packers run away with this one.
The Cowboys will certainly be favored against the Jets and Panthers, but they run into a tough matchup against the Denver Broncos in Week Eight. The Broncos may have the secondary pieces to cover CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens—despite that being a tall task. The Cowboys' defense could limit Bo Nix and the Sean Payton offense, but I predict the Broncos win a defense-heavy matchup in this one. I predict the Cowboys will get a win over the Cardinals in Week Nine, and I also expect them to beat the Raiders in a close one after their Week Ten bye.
Dallas plays the Kansas City Chiefs in one of three Thanksgiving matchups this year in Week 13. This game will get a lot of attention and will likely be played with a lot of intensity, as both teams will be fighting for their respective divisions at that point in the season. The Cowboys could certainly see success through the air with Dak throwing to CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and Jake Ferguson in the middle of the field. They will have a good chance to cover well against Kansas City’s receiver room, but in the end, I predict Patrick Mahomes is able to will himself to a win here in what I believe is a game that could go either way.
The Cowboys then have a challenging close to the schedule, traveling to Detroit in Week 14, where I see a loss, and then a night game against the Vikings. The outcome of that matchup could depend on the development of J.J. McCarthy by that point in the season. The Cowboys could keep up with the Vikings offensively, and the trenches will likely make or break this game. Ultimately, I predict Dallas to win.
The last non-divisional game on the schedule is against the Chargers at home. I think the Cowboys match up well against Los Angeles, and this game could easily determine whether Dallas makes the playoffs or not. In total, I predict the Cowboys to wrap up the year with a ten-and-seven record, which should be enough to sneak them into a wild-card spot.
