Has ‘The Role Model’ Actually Signed a New WWE Deal in 2026?

A surprise return occurred during the September 7th episode of Raw. During a Triple Threat Women’s Money in the Bank Qualifying Match between Lyra Valkyria, Sol Ruca, and Maxxine Dupri, Bayley made her return to WWE television, pulling the referee out of the ring and preventing Valkyria from picking up the win. This distraction allowed Ruca to deliver a Sol Snatcher to get the win. Bayley, who hasn’t been seen since suffering a loss at the hands of Valkyria at Saturday Night’s Main Event in July 2026, returned with a vengeance and prevented the woman who made her life a living hell from moving up in the Women’s Division. With rumors that her contract was set to expire, it’s certainly a nice surprise to see Bayley appear on Raw once again. However, rumors are also circulating that she has not yet signed a new contract. Does her return to Raw signify a new contract extension is on the horizon, or was her appearance the beginning of a farewell tour?

Bayley has always been one of WWE’s most popular superstars ever since she made her debut on NXT in 2013. She grew into her ‘Hugger’ gimmick, with her bubbly personality and ‘never say die’ attitude pushing her all the way to the NXT Women’s Championship. She had excellent matches with the likes of Sasha Banks and Asuka before arriving on the main roster in 2016. From there, she accomplished everything there is to do, from Royal Rumble winner and Money in the Bank briefcase holder to becoming a grand slam champion. She’s mixed it up with some of the best from the past and continues to elevate the stars of the future. With all her accolades on the main roster, it seemed as if she had reached her ceiling in WWE.

The past year has seen Bayley mentoring Valkyria while continuing to push the Women’s Division towards new heights. She hasn’t had much success as a singles competitor but continues to receive loud pops every week. With rumors that she might not extend her contract, speculation began about whether Bayley might jump ship to another wrestling promotion, specifically AEW. She could easily become a main-event star just by joining, but she could also remain in WWE and continue coaching newer talent. If she were to leave WWE, she’d leave behind a storied career and find herself against new challengers. If she were to remain in WWE, she could continue writing her story and creating history throughout the next few years. With the new women’s midcard titles, she could easily attempt to capture those belts and add them to her repertoire.

Whatever Bayley decides to do with her career over the next few months, she will definitely be well-received nonetheless. She has done it all in WWE and could write more history elsewhere, or she could stay and help shape the new crop of talent. She hasn’t signed a new contract yet, so her return could be a final farewell, or she could decide to sign one and remain with the company for years to come. Only she knows what her future holds.
