How Did the Rams Show That Their Pass Attack Has Arrived Against the Titans?

NFL

In Week Two against the Tennessee Titans, the Rams' pass attack exploded to lead the Rams to victory. Matthew Stafford threw for 298 yards and two touchdowns with only one interception. At the end of the first half, the Titans kicked a last-second field goal to bring the score to 13-10. Going back to the locker room, it looked like Cam Ward had a chance to make an upset in his home debut as the 2025 NFL Draft first overall pick. However, the Rams offense was able to explode for 23 points in the second half, mainly through the passing game, to give the Rams a comfortable win in their first road game of the season.

At first, the passing game was not connected. Stafford kept trying to go to his brand new weapon, Davante Adams, in the red zone. In the second quarter, at first and goal with three yards to go, Stafford threw to Adams three plays in a row and was just not able to come down with it through the tough defense of L’Jarius Sneed. The only touchdown of the first half was a 45-yard run by Puka Nacua on a jet sweep on fourth and one.

Going into the second half, the third quarter’s offense was defined by Stafford’s arm. He hit two chunk plays to Adams to get the Rams a field goal. Then on the next drive, he hit two more shots to Nacua to set up Davis Allen’s second touchdown of the season. What really got the Rams' offense moving into a true explosion was actually the defense. Namely, Nathan Landman got involved in a fumble recovery for the second week in a row, this time recovering a fumble that was forced by a Byron Young sack. This fumble gave the Rams great field position to finally connect with Davante Adams for a 16-yard touchdown.

By the end of the game, Puka Nacua and Davate Adams combined for nearly 200 yards of passing offense. Nacua ended with eight catches for 91 yards, and Adams ended with six catches for 106 yards and the aforementioned touchdown. Jordan Whittington and Tyler Higbee also contributed with 42 yards and 37 yards, respectively. While this is what we have come to expect of Nacua, especially with his performance last week, we can now say that Davante Adams has truly arrived in LA. Last week and in the first half, the Stafford to Adams connection was having some trouble connecting with small morsels of the true potential of what could be, like the deep over-the-shoulder pass from last week. Yet, in the second half, Adams came alive, with four of his catches coming in the second quarter for 67 yards and a touchdown. This second half showed us what the Rams offense could look like with a trio of Stafford, Adams, and Nacua lighting up defenses, and we found out that the sky’s the limit.
