Will the Miami Dolphins Star Wide Receiver Be Headed to New Orleans?

NFL

After their second consecutive loss of the season, the New Orleans Saints need to focus on the next game instead of the remainder of the season. Compared to last week’s lack of performance against the Arizona Cardinals, QB Spencer Rattler showed improvement by helping his team score three touchdowns in today’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. Aside from Chris Olave and Alvin Kamara, there doesn’t appear to be any other reliable “targets” to whom Rattler can pass the ball. In addition to altering their offense to convert more plays to first downs and taking some risks while in possession of the ball, it may be time to bring in another wide receiver who could score for the team. If head coach Kellen Moore or anyone on the Saints coaching staff is reading this, I would like to suggest bringing in WR Tyreek Hill from the Miami Dolphins.

Let’s take a look at his NFL career, which began when Hill, a.k.a. “Cheetah” a.k.a “TyFreak,” was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round at 165th overall during the 2016 NFL Draft. Although there was criticism about this decision due to some of his past legal issues, these were addressed to the media, and he was signed up to play. Tyreek’s rookie season as a wide receiver would result in starting one of the 16 games played during which he would make 61 receptions for 593 receiving yards, six touchdowns, 24 carries for 267 rushing yards, and three rushing touchdowns. Due to his incredible season, Hill would have the honors of being named to the 2017 Pro Bowl as a return specialist, First-Team All-Pro as a punt returner, NFL All-Rookie Team for the 2016 season, and ranked 36th by his fellow players on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2017. He would remain in Kansas City for the next five seasons, during which he would start in 72 of the 75 games played, during which he would make another 418 receptions for 6037 receiving yards, 50 touchdowns, 69 carries for 452 rushing yards, and three rushing touchdowns. Every one of those years would result in him being named to that season’s Pro Bowl, several to the First-team All-Pro, and being among the NFL’s Top 100 Players of that season. In 2022, “Cheetah” would be traded to the Miami Dolphins, where he currently plays. As of his current season, he has started and played in all 52 games during which he has made 327 receptions for 4548 receiving yards, 26 touchdowns, 21 carries for 100 rushing yards, and one rushing touchdown. “TyFreak’s” stats for the 2022 and 2023 seasons would again earn him being named to that season’s Pro Bowl, First-team All-Pro, and be among the NFL’s Top 100 Players of those seasons.

It was a great decision this season by the Saints to bring in Chris Olave as a wide receiver. At 25 years old, he is in the prime of his professional career and has already shown his capabilities in the first two games. However, there is room for improvement to the offense, which could be done by adding the experienced and talented 31-year-old Tyreek Hill. Although he does have a checkered past with legal issues, his recent actions have shown that he is attempting to live a better life. Perhaps he also wants a “fresh start” in his professional career, which could be remedied by joining a new team. This would also be a great solution to Rattler’s limited options for whom he could pass the ball. It also sounds like a beneficial opportunity for both men to solve their dilemmas with a simple trade and improve the Saints’ chances of winning next week’s game in Seattle.
