How Is a Giants 2025 Draft Pick Emerging to Be a Top Running Back in the NFL?

NFL

The Giants have been slowly rebuilding their offense. It hasn’t been easy for them. However, this young team has gained some strengths in certain areas. One of the top ones is rookie running back Cam Skattebo. The former Sun Devil has been on the scene since the moment he was drafted to New York. He has already started making a difference for the Giants since the offseason, proving that he has what it takes to be their number one guy in getting touchdowns on the board and moving the ball up the field.

Skattebo is very versatile in both areas of rushing and receiving. It definitely shows when he is on the field. In Week Three, he rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries and caught six passes for 61 yards. He is often promising when it comes to catching the passes that fellow rookie Jaxson Dart passes over to him. Having this dual threat makes play-calling for the Giants a little bit easier.

His contact balance also plays a crucial role during games, as he can break through tackles with ease. He knows how to navigate or extricate himself from certain situations when needed. He is not a fast runner, but when the ball is handed to him, he does his best to stay upright and break free from tackles. Fans and the franchise have seen this during the first several weeks of the season, and it’s some of the best plays that the Giants have made in a long time. His size is also a significant factor in his playing style. Skattebo is around five-foot-10 and 219 pounds, which gives him more momentum to break out of tackles.

Skattebo is definitely one to keep an eye on during Thursday night's football game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He has managed to bring the heat early to these games despite how some of them have ended. This running back has been pretty solid when it comes to making the first downs that the Giants need. He has also had pretty high yardage when the ball is passed to him. Skattebo is considered a “steal.” The Giants are pleased with how he has performed so far; they want him to continue doing so.
