Can Big Blue Give Philadelphia Their Second Straight Loss?

NFL

The New York Giants are preparing to take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night. They haven’t had a great season so far, having won only one game out of the five they have already played. The Giants are still working on getting back on track. They recently introduced Jaxson Dart to the scene to change things up for New York. The downfall on New York's end is that wide receiver Malik Nabers is out for the season with an ACL tear, which significantly affects the Giants. There has been talk of Dart not being able to play on Thursday night; however, it has been confirmed that he will definitely be in right alongside running back Cam Skattebo, who has also put life back into Big Blue. As the Giants take on Philadelphia, here are a few things to watch for.

The first thing to keep an eye on is the offensive line and protecting their quarterback. They had a decent week when they played against the Saints. Dart hit the ground a few times, but not as many times as any of the other quarterbacks in the past have been. The only worry the Giants have at this point is the health of Dart. He suffered a hamstring injury during the previous game, but he is ready to step in and take the lead once again for this game. The offensive line also needs to keep their eyes out for who Dart plans on passing the ball to; that was another downfall during last week's game, but if they can clean it up, they should be just fine.

The defensive line also needs to continue to make the stops. Edge rushers Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux made several key plays last week, helping to stop New Orleans from scoring. They have definitely taken the time to rebuild the defensive line, and it shows. The Giants need to do the same with the Eagles. They will just need a lot more help in trying to sack this Super Bowl Champion team's quarterback. It may be tougher for them, but this is something that they can manage.

Lastly, the Giants need to take their wide receiver depth seriously for this coming week. Everyone who is usually in is out, and it doesn't look good for New York. Nabers is out, Tyrone Tracy Jr. is out, and Darius Slayton is also out. The key for the Giants is to look for Wan’Dale Robinson on the field and utilize Skattebo as much as possible. They have their second and third string, but the coaches need to see how much of a difference it makes to the team with all of their starters being out.

The Giants will play the Eagles at 8:15 p.m. EST on Thursday Night Football. It’s going to be a challenging game, but it's definitely one that will be interesting. The Eagles did fall last week to the Denver Broncos, so there may be a chance that the Giants can come up with a win this week. However, this, among many, is highly doubtful, but the odds may be in their favor. The Giants just need to keep it together, and they can forge ahead this coming season without any issues altogether.
