How Much ‘Suga’ Is Needed to Defeat the ‘Kung Fu Kid’?
UFC 324 is upon the eager fans who have been hibernating through the winter of 2026. In this fight card, we have title fighters like Paddy Pimblett facing Justin Gaethje for dominance in the Men’s Lightweight Interim Division title bout. However, title bouts do share a seat next to the Men’s Bantamweight Division fight featuring Sean O'Malley vs. Song Yadong. This fight showcases O’Malley, also known as ‘Suga’, fighting Yadong, also known as ‘Kung Fu Kid’. Both fighters here have a chance to move up towards a title bout like the one featured in this fight card of UFC 324. Overall, this should spur motivation as both will feel for each other’s weaknesses throughout this fight, especially since this would give O’Malley a chance to be a title holder once again for the Men’s Bantamweight Division.
‘Suga’ is currently a top-ranked fighter in his division, not because of his theatrical appearance but also because of his tendency to secure first-round finishes. For example, out of his current record of 18-3-0 he has secured nine first-round finishes. Not only that, but he does have over three inches of height that Yadong will have to factor in while gauging reach. Furthermore, ‘Suga’ is used to land more strikes per minute than his opponent. If the ‘Kung Fu Kid’ hopes to keep up, he will have to match this speed during all three rounds. Also, Yadong could turn the fight in his favor if he capitalizes on his firm takedown defense.
Having a record of 22-8-1, ‘Kung Fu Kid’ is just as experienced as ‘Suga’ and has shown that he can go on average the same fight time, if not longer than O’Malley. This, coupled with his tendency to get wins by submission or just show a more dominant nature than ‘Suga’ on the ground, could give him sway if the judges have to go to a decision. It is unlikely a decision between the two fighters will occur at the end since O’Malley is a headhunter by nature, while Yadong is methodical. The clock will show which technique is more valuable as time elapses. As time passes, both fighters will have three rounds to prove themselves as they seek a KO/TKO while avoiding the fight going to decision. So let the octagon become the ticking time bomb as spectators see what it takes for the ‘Kung Fu Kid’ to gain a victory over ‘Suga’!
